If Hutchison follows through with her resignation, attention on the GOP side will turn to Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst (R), who would enter the race as the GOP front-runner and is a favorite of the national party, in large part because of his ability to self-fund.

Morning email from a friend--

On another note, I understand Kay Bailey Hutchinson will vote against Sotomayor. Interesting, I beleive it is all about challenging Perry. Cornyn is voting against her also; I believe it is because his Dallas office was protested a few weeks ago. I truly believe they would both be voting for her if the pressure were not on them. I am disappointed by their failure to adhere to Republican principles. Again, I do not hear them yelling 'FIRE'; instead, it appears they are doing just enough to appease their constituents.

The anti-any party ranks are swelling. Organizations like GOOOH (Get Out Of Our House), a group to replace all 435 congressmen, are busy meeting and growing and planning. I have a strong sense that they will supporting a third party candidate - I hope not, but our Republican party is not exactly winning converts or building trust.

KBH has forgotten too much of what she learned in Texas and remembers too much of what she has learned in D.C.!

Doesn’t the gov name the replacement until the election?

It would be cool if he would name some crusty grumpy old fart who don’t give a damn and would just raise hell in DC with that bunch of worthless pimps up there.

With Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (RINO-TX) retiring early, the special election to replace her is on. The optimal choice for conservatives is clear: Texas Railroad Commission Chairman Michael Williams. He's 100% conservative, a brilliant speaker and exponent of conservative principles, a statewide elective officeholder, and the candidate that liberals and Democrats would least like to see in the U.S. Senate. Check out Chairman Williams's campaign website and judge for yourselves, and, mark my words, you'll discover that he's the real deal.
