U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison sent out this transcript of her interview with WBAP talk show host Mark Davis.
Hutchison said she will give up her Senate seat in October or November. That would set off the special election for May 2010, unless Gov. Rick Perry declared an emergency and set it for an earlier date.
The transcript:
(snip)
Mark Davis: "So you'll be coming out at some point. When do you think its decision time for you? When would you like, when might we know?"
Kay Bailey Hutchison: "Well I'm going to announce in August. Formal announcement: I am in. Then the actual leaving of the Senate will be sometime - October, November - that, in that time frame."

I sort of agree with you. Problem is, who do we have that we can get behind to be the governor of TX? I don’t see anyone on the horizon who excites me.

attention on the GOP side will turn to Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst (R), who would enter the race as the GOP front-runner and is a favorite of the national party, in large part because of his ability to self-fund. From what I understand, Dewhurst is a solid conservative.

Problem is, who do we have that we can get behind to be the governor of TX? Jerry Patterson would make an outstanding governor.

She wont make it in Texas. Ditto about Hutchison. She is in a very weak position right now to win as Texas governor. She voted for TARP, and that will be held strongly against her.
