HONOLULU -- State officials again are confirming that President Barack Obama was born in Hawaii.
Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said Monday she has seen the original birth records that verify Obama was born in Hawaii, and is a "natural-born American citizen."
Fukino made the announcement in hopes of ending any lingering rumors about Obama's citizenship. She issued a similar press release Oct. 31.

Not a judge? Do you need a judge to say that you were born in whatever place you were born in, or will the keeper of the records do?
Her spoken words would not constitute adequate proof of a valid Birth Certificate in a Court of Law or legal proceeding. Not without proper documentation being supplied by the public agency in question. Any competent attorney will tell you this.
oyyyyyyyyyy.
It's the truth.
Well that settles it. The invisib1e hand says ‘oyyyy’ :0)
Off to work here. Have a good day, all.
get some sleep champ. you’ve been up too long.
And I'll set my own schedule.
Get lost troll.
Article 2, section 1, clause 5 does not "state" this.
No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
You can certainly make an argument that is what the framers intended, but it is incorrect to say Article 2 [section 1, clause 5] states it.
Sorry buddy, but that argument is just a tired dodge.
8 USC §1401:
The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth:El Gato is absolutely right that the time was changed from 10 years / 4 years to 5 years / 2 years as it is currently.(g) a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years
If it can be proven that Ø was not born in the US, then it would also need to be shown that his mother left the country before her 18th birthday. Otherwise, where he was born is irrelevant...other than possibly an issue for political embarrassment.

The original release did not state he was a NBC, either.
Don’t be so gullible. Do you always believe everything you read and hear?
FWIW, Up until this point I have been a skeptic and have argued vigorously against the birthers. However, something about this recent statement coming so late after prior statements and something about a representative determining what "natural born citizen" means and applying it to the facts doesn't sit right with me.
Maybe its because my experience with government officials is they loathe to interpret data. Maybe its because they are stating something today that they claimed they could not state yesterday. Maybe its because Obama could easily release this and its done with but instead we have state officials interpreting the constitution.
No, Traveler, this recent statement has increased my interest and makes it more likely there is something there.
...unless the Messiah requests they do so...which *for some reason* he has chosen not to do...
One of the defining features of a good conspiracy theory is that, for the believers, there can never be evidence good enough to dispel it. Photos? Faked. Witness statements? Bought off. Physical evidence? Put there by guys in dark suits and glasses. Nothing can be allowed to spoil the fun and take away the reason to live.
Damn it! Guess we're intangible.
Absolutely. The birth certificate issue is only one aspect of the eligibility question. Laws governing citizenship in 1961 determine whether Hussein is a NBC or not and a strict interpretation of them indicates that he is not (father a British subject; mother too young to have attained US residency requirements). A SCOTUS decision is the only thing that will put the NBC matter to rest.
Excerpt from attorney Orly Taitz letter to Congress:
There is plenty of evidence of Mr. Obama being born in Kenya and obtaining his Hawaiian birth certificate based on a statement of his grandparent only, who simply didnt want to deal with immigration and not based on any records from any hospitals. Extensive searches in the State of Hawaii showed no birthing records for his mother [Stanley] Ann Dunham in any hospital in Hawaii.
That birth certificate probably has some really embarrassing stuff on it: my mom is white and father black, and back in the 60's-70's hospitals were told to make the babies born of two races the race of the mother.
So Obama should be "white" on that certificate.
I’ve gone around in circles with this issue- it’s baffled me for over a year. Your sensible post reminds me of how many bits of this story simply don’t add up.
In addition, we have now had several months to observe the president in action and can plainly see how easily lies, deceit and dishonesty come to him.
And either way, is he NATURAL-BORN? His father was a Kenyan and a subject of the British Empire.
