[Venezuela's] Chávez "armed to the teeth" with new Russian tanks
NotiUno.com (Spanish-language article) ^ | July 24, 2009 | News Desk

(English-language translation)

The government of Venezuela will purchase tanks from Russia to double its fleet and strengthen its armed forces.

[Venezuelan] President Hugo Chávez made the announcement amid growing tensions with Colombia over its military agreement with the United States, which would allow troops from that country to operate from Colombian bases.

"We are going to bring several new tank battalions in order to double the armored force we presently have....I am not going to pay attention to what the neighbors say, or up north, forget the Yankees," said Chávez in "Hello, Theoretical President", the new version of his Sunday show.

The Venezuelan president explained that the new tanks are part of a "western shield plan" to protect the border with Colombia, from where he believes the United States is planning an offensive.

"They are preparing for aggression. They shouldn't think about it, because they will have to deal with the sons of (Simón) Bolívar," he stated.

Chávez added that his country's military plans were officially communicated to the government of Russia, Venezuela's chief arms supplier, which sold the country 24 Sukhoi fighter jets, 50 combat helicopters, and 100,000 Kalashnikov rifles between 2005 and 2007.

In addition, both countries held joint military maneuvers in the Caribbean Sea in November 2008.

The Venezuelan president also said that he will push for the creation of "combat troops" out of militias composed of students, workers of state-owned companies, and peasants.

To Chávez, Washington "wants to turn Colombia into the Israel of Latin America," which "would be incendiary, regrettable, very sad."

On Tuesday, the president warned that the United States and its allies in Colombia and Israel comprise "a cadre of aggression against Venezuela," for which he announced that he would review its relations with the neighboring country.

Chávez was referring to the coming arrival of "thousands of Yankee soldiers to American military bases in Colombia," a country which shares a 2,219-kilometer land border with Venezuela.

The Russians made some good cash on this moron, THATS what happened. Third world nation buying cool toys isnt a threat to us. His thanks and Sukhois would last about a day. The only real threat is Obamas and Pelosis personal warmth for Hugo.

...with the same type of tanks. I wonder if Venezuela has enough midgets to man those T-72 and T-90 tanks. My Marine friends said the turret on Russian-built tanks was so tight that odds were good a crewman would lose a body part when hit by the recoil or expended shell.

The tanks will be used against his own people to keep him in power. After WW2 the Soviet Union has used more tanks to keep its own people and satellite states in power than in wars against other nations.

"We have heard this story before, specifically from Cuba."

Actually, everywhere: Russia afrer 1917, Eastern Europe after 1945, China in 1960s, etc.

Much of the same mentality is now in the Islamic world: beware, the infidel Christians and Jews are constantly plotting to subjugate you.

What amazes me is that is still works. And what appalls me is that my own country, via Obama, has aligned itself with Chavez against Honduras.

Yep, he’s this bold because Obama is his true friend. Ill never forget the warmth in that photo. Obamas smirk and Hugo laughing back spoke volumes.

I know we say it a lot when we get carried away. But i truly think Obama is truly a manchurian candidate making a “soft revolution”. Our very freedom is at risk.

How long until those tanks, along with Russian and Chinese, are crossing the border into Arizona and New Mexico?

I need to watch RED DAWN again, then I can tell you.

How long until those tanks, along with Russian and Chinese, are crossing the border into Arizona and New Mexico?

And how long after that will they all end up on blocks or with MS-13 gang tags spraypainted all over them?

...”and 100,000 Kalashnikov rifles between 2005 and 2007. “

Am I the only one who noticed that when we buy a Kalashnikov it’s a machine gun, but when a commie does, it’s just a rifle...

I hope he doesn’t invade either Columbia (a university in New York) or Colombia (a country in South America).

"Joint military exercises in November 2008."

That was a lifetime ago. We are now allied with Chavez and Columbia and Honduras are feeling the breath of the wolf at the door. Unfortunately for Chavez, he insulted the King of Spain. Columbia was able to buy NATO arms through Spain. Chavez wants no part of Uribe.

Honduras can simply hang tough until the pending elections because they know our CIC is a pansy.

“I hope he doesn’t invade either Columbia (a university in New York) or Colombia (a country in South America).”

On the contrary, I would be quite happy if he invaded Columbia and laid it waste. It would be a case of the left devouring its own. Colombia, on the other hand, should be left alone.

Unfortunately, Columbia is Chavez’ ally while Colombia is the target. What a difference a vowel makes...

Post of the day!

Also, notice that the Islamonazis wish to return the world to the seventh century, but they get to keep their twentieth century AK's ...

No wait, if the narcogangs in Mexico are getting all their AK’s from Bob’s firearms in San Antonio, then it would make sense that Chavez is also a customer of Bob. I guess Bob is now selling soviet tanks as well. OK fine, I will just head over and get me a couple of tracked vehicles and add to my collection of automatic weapons. Bob’s in pretty tall cotton nowadays.
