Pet children. Ewww. Poor things.

But yep, being raised by a nanny with the ability to get an education is far better than living in the misery of a Russian orphanage.

Now, Laura needs to find a good man!

New rule, when some bubble head starlet adopts a child to be fashionable, there will be no Free Republic Thread criticizing the adoption.

What's good for the goose, is good for the gander.

I feel for Laura, but she has a horrible temper

A horrible temper? do you know her personally? I've never heard her losing her temper or of her losing her temper. I do hear a lot of laughter when I tune in and I know she's bad with directions and getting lost but a horrible temper.....project much?

Congrats rintense!

Just got back from China 2 weeks ago with our new 4 year old daughter. It really is a wonderful experience (I now have 3 girls).

Good on her!
Now an incidental question. Does adoption by an American citizen automatically confer citizenship? Or does the child retain foreign citizenship? Or what.

Was America out of stock ?

It is VERY difficult to adopt an infant in the US. That is why some of my friends have gone through the expense and difficulties of adopting through foreign countries.

I remember attending a USAF conference where attendees and presenters lampooned Quayle (this was circa 1990), and our own agency had excellent access to the veep at that time, and while I didn't meet him, every one of our engineers and officers who met him said he was quite bright, asked penetrating and relevant questions, and came across as quite intelligence.

Is this better than parents? You decide.

But in these circumstances the question is "Is it better than NO parents?" The orphans of Russia are in a desperate situation and often end up being turned out of orphanages in their teens with no prospects. They end up in pretty bad circumstances.

you are correct. i am sure orphanages in guatemala and russia would have provided MUCH better homes than a wealthy woman in the US.

New rule, when some bubble head starlet adopts a child to be fashionable

Laura is not a bubble head starlet and she is not doing it to be fashionable. She actually wants these children to have a decent life, instead of being left in an orphanage to starve, that she is very capable of giving them.

You can make all the rules you want but I don't think these children would be better off left to die in an orphanage. Laura didn't take a television crew with her when she went either like most of the starlets. She, in fact, kept it a secret until some know-nothing liberal kooks/media claimed she had a face-lift/boob job while 'on vacation'.

Yes, I did think about it. The expense and the red tape of dealing with the Chinese communist government and all of its corrupt bureaucracies is STILL easier than trying to adopt in the US. I’m glad that you find that so hilarious.
