CONGRESS CREATED DUST BOWL (food price is going to increase)

Posted on 07/25/2009 8:58:39 PM PDT by 4rcane

http://thecomingdepression.blogspot.com/2009/07/there-is-hunger-coming-like-run-away.html

e driven the almost 400 mile stretch of Interstate 5 from L.A. to Sacramento dozens of times. Quite honestly, it's as boring as it gets. with only the usual gas stations, mini-marts, fast-food, home-cookin' restaurants, and strangely a newer batch of Starbuck's Coffee shops sprouting up everywhere. In between... farms, orchards, cattle, and dirt. On July 15th, as I began my trip to Utah, I came off the Grapevine decline and hit the flat 250 or so mile stretch of interstate which begins the farming belt in the valley. Almost immediately I noticed what I had only heard about on the radio and in the papers. Where once there were vast fields of green, now there where empty, barely recognizable rows of unplanted dirt and growing weeds. Only sporadically at first, but once I passed Bakersfield and for about a 200 mile stretch, I could not believe my eyes. Field after field laid fallow. And not really fallow, but unattended... as if it was not going to be planted in the near future either. Signs were staked in the ground on almost every patch of barren farmland. The most common one, which was yellow and obviously a group effort to wake up the sleeping travelers of their future plight, read: "CONGRESS CREATED DUST BOWL"

I’ve been asking all summer where all the bees are around here.

Soros and his pals are buying arable land like hotcakes. Now why would he do that....at the same time that the congress is talking banning/restricting organic food gardens & small food sellers?

It’s like the ban on pre-1985 children’s books for ‘safety’ reasons (done deal) or even the garage sale thing.

Be sure to track who is buying up the farmland. It’s Chinatown all over again.

The Chinese are alot smarter than American Politicans these days. The Chinese recently audited their grain reserve, to make sure they have enough grain in reserve for rainy days, in case of fraud and natural disaster

For those who live outside California, they turned off the irrigation water because they decided a little fish called the Delta smelt was more important than the farmers, thousands of jobs and feeding the nation. For what it’s worth you can’t eat’em they are tiny and the San Joaquin Valley is one of the few regions in California that is conservative.

Look, it ain’t about the fish. It’s about stealing your land.

The water will come back on once current owners are busted.

All this is to “save” the “Delta” smelt, a non-native fish introduced in the 1940s. It’s dying from the raw sewage dumped into the Sacramento River. These two cities don’t want to build water treatment plants, so they let the pumps be shut off so our water dilutes their sewage. It’s criminal, literally.

California is going broke, and this is going be terrible for the economy out there. The farmers not only raise crops and create jobs, but they pay taxes. This will hurt that state’s revenue even more. So, I guess the pinheads in Sacremento will just raise taxes even more.

first....I dissagree...Rt 5 down the interior of California is a very nice drive....lots of farm country and cows and an easy highway....I liked driving there....California is such a beautiful state with all of its varied wonders, its a shame the rats have torn it apart....

secondly....I remember reading last fall here on FR that the price of ferilizer was so high...because of the price of all commodities.....that farmers were not ordering it or couldn't get it...thus, we shouldn't be surprised by the barren ground.....

stock up folks....canned goods and dry beans and peas.....rice....things that will keep well if stored properly...

I know it’s not about the fish but that’s their lousy excuse just like spotted owls in timber country, they always have a lousy excuse to cover themselves.

Maybe I should let Royal Wulff speak for himself, but I think he was talking about the movie Chinatown . (Although your point is well-taken too.)

Did you go to the water rally? Devin Nunes is my congressman. It’s criminal that Jim Costa worked behind the scenes to undermine Devin’s work on this issue. What a devious creep. He needs a serious challenge in the next election.
