The latest Quinnipiac Poll on the 2010 Pennsylvania Senate race brings encouragingand surprisingnews for Pat Toomey.
The former Republican lawmaker and fiscal conservative has closed a 20-point gap against incumbent Sen. Arlen Specter, who switched parties earlier this year in part due to fears that he could not beat Toomey in a GOP primary.
The latest survey, conducted July 14-19, shows Specter leading by just one point, 45%-44%, against Toomey in a general election match up. An earlier poll conducted in May showed Specter leading Toomey 53%-33%.
. . . . .
Among Pennsylvanians, President Barack Obamas approval rating is 56%down six points from late May.

Especially if Toomey's offers a good alternative to kick start the local economy again... as opposed to the Democrats tired ol' plan of taxing "rich folks."
As far as I’m concerned if PA voters re-elect Arlin they pretty much deserves whatever high unemployment rate they get. Its time for people who voted for socialism to truly experience what “you reap what you sow” truly means.
I wonder if Specter will even make it through the primary against Sestak. He seems to be fading fast.
And the elites and RINO’s said Toomey wasn’t electable?
Funny. They say the same of Sarah..
Unseating the tax and spend liberal socialist Democrats (and their Republican allies) would be a good step in thwarting the Obama plans for our nation.
Spector is a L.O.S.E.R. - he bought into the Obama brand right at the highest point of the bubble.
Good news.
Specter was adrift, so he jumped overboard and swam to a sinking ship.
Yeah those rino pukes said we have to get Ridge. Even Hannity was waffling.
This is great news!
I think this speaks more to the GOP’s ascending trajectory as Obama and the democrats alienate more and more voters, as well as Specter’s sinking popularity and credibility. Note, though that PA just ran Santorum out of office, and this doesn’t portend to PA going more conservative, but it is rather evidence of a growing national disenchantment with the democrats. Lets hope it keeps up.
Toomey may get an extra push if it turns out that Gov. Rendell is the Gov X who was also involved with the same hooker as Spitzer - Rush says he’s pretty sure he knows who the villain is, and he comes from a state that has a lot of Eagles........
