A prominent black Harvard University scholar has accepted an invitation to have a beer with President Barack Obama and the white police officer who arrested him in a racially charged case.

Professor Henry Louis Gates said Saturday he was willing to have a peace-making beer with Obama and Cambridge, Massachusetts, police Sgt. James Crowley.

Gates was arrested last week at his home after a neighbor called police to say that a man was breaking into the house. Obama said Cambridge police had "acted stupidly," prompting an outcry from police groups and a resulting media blitz.

So “The Divine One” wants a beer with the cop and the black prof. For a “President” to spend that much time implies that he took some heavy political heat.

Please tell me you’re being sarcastic because, this is one of the most transparent, cynical and stupidest things I’ve ever seen in my life.

That “get-together” is more for the benefit of Gates and Obama (as both were in the wrong) than it is for Crowley (as he was in the right).

All that meeting will do is “save” Obama and Gates and make Crowley look like an idiot...

State controlled media (SCaM) Headline?

President Obama, Prof. Gates, and cop meet for beer
Accord From Meeting: Police Should be More Sensitive, White House Announces
Friendly banter during 30-minute meeting

(I think that Sgt. Crowley would be nuts to meet there alone.

Bring some fellow officers -- they were also maligned by the man elected the president of the United States of America.

Make sure black as well as white officers are there. After all the 1960s Marxist-Alinsky hippie street rabble and their ideological issue-cum-Rat Party, formerly the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party, made this a racial issue.)

Gates said: “I am pleased that he, too, is eager to use my experience as a teaching moment, and if meeting Sgt. Crowley for a beer with the president will further that end, then I would be happy to oblige,”

A “teaching moment”? Based on that remark, Crowley should send 0bama his regrets because he'd likely have to arrest the SOB again and perp walk him out of the WH.

Their "teachable moment" is your and my didacticism. It's defined by an inescapable us vs. them mentality, and there's never anything gained from trying to play the game by their rules.

Now, turning their own rules against them, that's another matter. That's what this whole Crowley Cambridge affair did, apparently quite by accident, and that's why they're so desperate to regain control of the dialogue.

Wonder if Bambi is going to invite the policeman’s mama since the scholar wanted to go out on the porch with her, maybe he would drink a beer with her too.

At least he should request that his fellow black officer that backed him up is also invited.

RE: Clearly, Crowley won the argument.

.. but if the MSM do not report it that way to the vast majority who are apolitical did he really win the argument? If he won and no one hears from the MSM that he won, did he win?

IMO nothing will change. There'll be pressure to remove Sgt Crowley from the force. Nationwide departments will have to take (even more!) time out for "sensitivity" training.

Radical Hispanics, radical Muslims.. All Aboard!

Didn't Crowley say he was considering suing Gates for defamation? Don't think I'd have a beer with these two if I was considering a law suit. I wouldn't do it under any circumstances.

Would it be overly wrong to hope that all three drown in their beers? Most likely, so I’ll hope for two out of three.

Come on, you know if a President Huckaberry made a similar gaffe, and proposed such a meeting, you'd be all 'awe-shucks'.

A Beer Summit is the best idea I’ve heard in years. As has been written about this meeting, two ‘gentlemen’ can agree to disagree and still share a beer. You’ll call it ‘political theater’. Of course it is, nothing can be done otherwise at the White House.

This idea that opposing political party members must be at war with each other on all fronts is foolish.
