According to Hawaii law, one must have a tangible interest in a birth certificate in order for the requestor to obtain the same.
http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/session2007/bills/sb1326_sd1_.pdf
The act in part states:
"The Department shall not...issue a certified copy of any such record or part thereof, unless it is shown that the applicant has a direct and tangible interest in the record." Section 2(b)
****
The following persons shall be considered to have a direct and tangible interest in a public health statistics record:
1)The registrant;
2)The spouse of the registrant;
3)A parent of the registrant;
4)A descendant of the registrant;
5)A person having a common ancestor with the registrant..."
As can be seen clearly, Hawaii has specifically allowed those who are researching their family trees to obtain birth certificates of others. This is quite different and much more broadly worded than allowing only those descended from the registrant as in the class of permitted applicants. In essence, if one could find a person who shares a common ancestor with Obama, and that person agreed to obtain a certified copy of the birth certificate...
I am not a genealogical researcher, nor do I play one on television. But I do seem to remember this article http://www.mormontimes.com/people_news/newsmakers/?id=8167 in which Obama's family tree was partially revealed. "According to parish records uncovered by experts at the genealogy Web site Ancestry.com, Obama's sixth great-grandfather, Johann Conrad Woelflin, was born Jan. 29, 1729, in Besigheim, a small town north of Stuttgart on the Enz river where it feeds into the Neckar."
Since genealogists seem to have such delight in finding common ancestors, it would appear to be a simple task for those schooled in such a discipline. Maybe even in finding one person out in this wide world of ours who would put in an application to the State of Hawaii...
How about Dick Cheney?
He does share common ancestry with Barack Obama.

I thought he was related to Cheney.
Dick, get busy.
I think there was a media report that VP Cheney is a distant cousin.
Now that would be a hoot if VP Cheney obtained a certerfied copy and posted it on the web. Can you imagine how the MSM would throw fits about that? LOL
I would buy tickets to watch that fight, heheh.
Bingo! This is exactly what I was going to post.
I read here that Orly Taitz had ordered a BC via a relative of BO’s, but the wait would be a year long.
Someone should ask Liz Cheney to request a copy.
certerfied = certified
grrr - got to remember to proof read.
Well then, we can ALL have access to Obama’s birth certificate... what with Noah and Adam. ;)
Does Frank Marshall Davis have any family members that went conservative on him?
Even if you found that one of these people would cooperate, Hawaii would certainly refuse to release the certificate without Obama's permission unless ordered to do so by a court. It would be necessary to hire a Hawaiian attorney.
Still, your idea might work. Congratulations on coming up with a new approach.

Ok, I’m not an attorney, but it seems that this language is sufficiently broad enugh that it can be interpreted to mean that others could obtain a copy of the BC if they had what the department considers to be a direct and tangible interest. My guess is that, if this is so, the Department has been bribed or coerced into denying access.
Obama has an uncle in Chicago he would be able to get it.
I believe he once disputed a story that Obama said.
Great minds think alike!
In theory fine....if you were looking up your long lost cousin Joe Smith. However, this is the President, and Hawaii officials (and everyone with a brain, including all judges up the the U.S. Supreme Court) knows that this could be a constitutional crises--hence FAT CHANCE of ever seeing a birth certificate--even if you were O's long lost twin brother.
The other most obvious issue is, most of us now believe there is NO Hawaii birth certificate to be found...
re: Dick, get busy.
How many times have I uttered that!
