44 Are Arrested in New Jersey-Focused Corruption Inquiry (Name that Party!)
NY Times ^ | July 24, 2009 | DAVID M. HALBFINGER

Posted on 07/23/2009 3:34:26 PM PDT by bobsunshine

A two-year corruption and international money-laundering investigation stretching from the Jersey Shore to Brooklyn to Israel and Switzerland culminated in the arrests of 44 people on Thursday, including three New Jersey mayors, two state assemblymen and five rabbis, the authorities said.

The case apparently began with bank fraud charges against a member of an insular Syrian Jewish enclave centered in the seaside town of Deal, N.J. Eventually, stemming from that arrest, a federal informant posed as a crooked real estate developer offering cash bribes to obtain government approvals — and the case mushroomed into a political scandal that could rival any of the most explosive and sleazy episodes in New Jersey’s recent past.

This was the most amazing thing to see on Fox and they led these people out and listed all of those involved. Wow.

I think they need to raid the entire Senate and Congress as well.

Sure would help to clean up the scum.

The two mayors are Democrats as well as most of the others;

Here is more from Moe Lane (crossposted at Redstate):

http://moelane.com/2009/07/23/update-on-hudson-county-democratic-party-organlegging-arrests/

Yes, in fact: there was trafficking in human organs involved. At least one individual has been brought up on charges of attempting to sell a liver.

The list of individuals and charges can be found here: we’re looking at conspiracy to commit extortion, money laundering, and again, at least one charge in trafficking in human organs.

There are at least two Republicans on the list; but the Hudson County Democratic Party organizational chart is probably going to end up looking like there was a sudden outbreak of the bubonic plague.

There is currently no indication that Governor Corzine was aware that numerous Democratic officials were allegedly involved in any conspiracy to commit extortion, money laundering, and/or trafficking in human organs. He apparently missed it completely.

The FBI raided Community Affairs Commissioner (and NJ Cabinet member) Joseph Doria’s office, presumably in relation to their investigation of conspiracy to commit extortion, money laundering, and/or trafficking in human organs charges; Doria has resigned.

Gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie (R) is also involved in this up to his eyeballs; in the sense that he was the one that started the investigation two years ago as a… I believe the term is, ‘crusading US Attorney.’

An attempt to get a statement from Senator Robert Menendez (D, NJ), Hudson County Democrat and chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, was unsuccessful. There has been no press release and/or statement made at the time that this post was written.

Compare and contrast:
44 Are Arrested in New Jersey-Focused Corruption Inquiry
44 Is Arrested in New Jersey-Focused Corruption Inquiry

Which would you rather see?

I wonder if Obama will weigh in on these arrests, championing the cause of the arrested and disparaging AG Christie. It would fit the pattern.

There are a couple of Republicans. But the sad thing is that, despite the fact that these alleged criminals are almost all Democrats, NJ will just keep voting Democrats into office. It’s a sickness that seems to have no cure.

We find out right away about the Syrian Jews, but it sure does take a long time to identify party affiliations of ANY of the government folks who were arrested; and then only three were so identified.

They're not all democrats—just most. If I heard the press conference earlier today correctly, there were “2 or 3” Republicans involved. From what I can gather, thus far, the key players were all Democrats. The truly sad part is that, if knowing what they know now and given a chance to vote again, most in NJ would still elect these guys to office. Everyone in NJ knew that Menendez was corrupt, yet he was still elected to US Senate. I am torn today because it is so typical of many dems in this state, so I laugh. But on the other hand, I am taxed through my eye teeth because of it, so I could cry.

Most people just sigh and say that they are all crooks. The gets the Rats of the hook of being the majority of them.
Don't let your friends say that unchallenged. The number are overwhelmingly Rats. Plus the GOP fires their crooks..the Rats reelect them.
