Liz Cheney is taking some heat today for, amid a discussion on Larry King Live of the fringe movement that doubts Obama's citizenship, appearing to defend it.
"People are fundamentally uncomfortable, and they're fundamentally increasingly uncomfortable with an American president who seems to be afraid to defend America," she said "The kind of thing you saw on this video is indicative of sort of a general feeling of discomfort."
"She refuses to say, 'This is ludicrous,' because she actually wants to encourage these people to believe this," Democratic consultant James Carville shot back on CNN.
I asked Cheney about the subject, and she emailed:
I don't have any question about Barack Obama's right to be President of the United States.
My concern is with his policies. I am deeply troubled about the path he is taking this country down -- massively expanding the size of government, weakening our national defenses, increasing taxes on all Americans and nationalizing health care. These are dangerous policies for the nation.
The video that triggered the question:
Liz Cheney is a foreign policy professional
.. and in my opinion is rightfully sticking
exclusively to her area of expertise.
Gee. I guess Rush is worried about that too, huh? Since he said he has no idea if O is legit. that is the proper answer if you are going to wade into this at all.
You said — Everyone forgets the Leftwingtards first raised the issue by claiming that John McCain was not “native born”.
—
But, they “covered” themselves, by issuing a resolution that McCain was qualified... so that was no longer an issue.
Even my mother at 70 and apolitical said the other day, “why doesn’t he just show his real birth certificate and end this stuff?”
It’s got legs.
They are not covered.
James Carville cannot prove that he’s human.

That’s exactly what I’ve said about the issue from the beginning. And the other thing that I’ve said is that there is no legal requirement for anyone to produce their birth certificate and that loophole has to be fixed.
What I’m pointing out here is that the left has found a great way to shift the issue whenever someone gets on something that may have “legs” (on an issue). All they have to do is “paint the person” as a “birther nut” and then the whole conversation shifts from what might have been legitimate arguments about some legislation into the morass that the leftists want to leave in the public’s mind — in that the person is actually a “nut-case birther” and therefore should not be listened to at all...
I can see that this is now their developing strategy...
Watch Serpenthead’s mouth stuttering, blubbering ... LOL ...
If she joined the birthers, she would be a nut.
Oh yeah... I know that there were — but all someone has to do is point to the resolution and that puts an end to it.
With the “birthers” — there is no resolution to put an end to it... and the leftists love that, since they can hammer home with the public, when someone opposes Obama — by saying, “Oh, don’t pay attention to them, they’re just another nut-case birther, that’s all...”
That’s obviously their new strategy here and why the birther issue has come up in many of the leftists articles. They’re building up for a massive marginalization of anyone who opposes Obama, by calling them a “birther nut-case”... doncha know...
Dittos! It is clear that the marching orders to the presstitutes today from Axelrod and Obama are to go after prominent GOP leaders to make them take a stand on this issue while at the same time frantically trying to paint anyone who just wants to see Obama’s real long form BC as crazy and racist. Unless our leaders jump on that obfuscating Alinsky narrative, then I have no problem. Liz answered the question perfectly.
The frantic nature of the left wing press assault today is actually making Obama look more and more guilty of fraud. There is no need for our leaders to jump into the fray at this point. The truth will rise to the surface.
Don’t forget the proven definition for troll on Free Republic....
Anyone who doesn’t agree with me is a troll
That’s the most perfect definition that has been derived here on Free Republic, because it works in 100% of the cases... LOL...
I suspect there won't be a single 2012 candidate that would dare to say otherwise.
I just hope the birther issue doesn’t turn into a conservative litmus test for candidates.
Liz Cheney can not question Obama on something but still be supportive of those who do (which I think is her position)
Also it needs to be made clear to the Main Stream Media that the majority of Birthers don’t KNOW one way or another about Obamas citizenship....They have DOUBTS because of the actions of the President on this matter.
rather than besmirch doubters Obama should be working to erase doubts
rather than besmirch doubters Obama should be working to erase doubts
You know, the last time we picked our battles, we wound up focusing upon whether the President was being serviced by interns instead of the high probability that he had someone on his staff murdered. People understand that murder is wrong much more clearly than some illicit sexual relationships.
Now we should avoid the birth certificate issue which has a high probability of demonstrating that Obama's entire life is a fraud, in favor of some argument about socialized medicine. People understand being lied to. Ask Richard Nixon.

Their paint ain’t what it used to be. The panic has set in.
Larry King tried his best to do so.
