A relative of mine asked me how in good conscience I could be a guest on the Michael Savage show. Michael Savage?!WTF!?, that "god-awful, pathetic hate-mongering" nut case on radio? We'll, first off, I was asked to be a guest and accepted, just like I was offered an interview, via phone, regarding Savage and his much publicized situation with the UK and its "ban-list", which still includes Savage's name despite reports that he's off it. He's not and told me so, among other things.Let me first state very overtly and openly that, yes, as I've said in this corner, on TV, and in other arenas, Michael Savage makes me laugh out loud, and on occasion, makes me squirm, quite a bit in fact, but half the time I find myself agreeing with him more often lately than in the past. If that makes me a mutant, a piece of garbage, whatever, then I guess I'm in that department.Savage is a card, I'll give you that, and while I once thought that much of what he says is an "act", (Savage was heated over my past characterization) I do believe that if you, Bay Area people, liberal, conservative, moderate, progressive, French-onion, Sweedish-meatball, take your pick) actually LISTEN to the guy, maybe you'd at least, A. know where I'm coming from, B. laugh hysterically either intentionally or unintentionally, and C. learn a thing or two.Because, like him or not, and millions of people listen to his show, (he's the third most-listened-to talk-show host on radio) Savage's rants, raves, stream-of-conscienceness moments are quite striking and entertaining. Who cares, frankly, whether one agrees or disagrees? I can't stand Hannity and Limbaugh combined and both of them are extraordinarily BORING and PREDICTABLE.But I'd at least give a listen to them if either were worth...

Savage is an entertaining nut case who occasionally is the only radio personality in the country telling the truth as it should be told. He’s about right on the money once a month or once a quarter, but the rest of the time his show is good for shock entertainment.

Well put. A lot of his act really is similar to someone like Howard Stern. He is obviously more politically oriented but he tries to win and keep listeners by trying to shock them every now and then with his rants.
Savage is all those things but Ed Schultz is not? And if he is, doubt we're going to see any articles in the chronicle talk about Schultz' obvious insanity or, at the very best, unhealthy mental imbalance.
Savage is hated and vilified because he tells the truth about pharmaceutical drugs, especially those used to treat mental illness.
The drug industry has them squarely in their sites and they do everything they can to take him down.
They have also targeted the church of scientology, which is one of the most effective educational institutions sharing the facts on psychiatric medications.
I don’t listen to him often, but he is one of the few media outlets who has been willing to have Peter Breggin on his show.

Thanks for posting, SmithL
I believe he will be proved right on autism. He got really hammered over that subject.
Listen for yourself - The guy is is more anti-Palin David Letterman

BigVinny is a semi-regular on Savage’s show.
I meant. Listen for yourself - The guy is is more anti-Palin THAN David Letterman
I recently got one of CCHR’s videos on the history of psychiatry. If they had one of those 18th century “psychiatrists” in charge at Gitmo, then I might believe the claims of “torture”.
Savage cracks me up. But I wouldn’t want to be caught listening to him.

The whole industry just needs to shrivel up and die....
but then I am a psychiatric survivor who was gang raped in a Michigan State Mental Hospital shortly after the birth of my first baby in 1989, so I have issues...

Pushing a persona is MUCH more profitable than nutritional supplements.
I don’t hate Savage, I just hate listening to him.
I think it's his stories about how to make meatballs.
I can't listen to him too often because his voice just irritates, like chalk on a blackboard.
He’s one of the most irritating people on the radio. No such thing as a dialogue with callers. Blasts callers who even agree with him. In fact, his show might be better if he just didn’t take calls.
Maybe because he tells people to fry stuff in olive oil? ; )
