The story of the Battle of Gettysburg and 50th Anniversary Reunion would make for a heart-warming and touching TV Historic mini-series or Hollywood movie.

General John Buford. The Gettysburg movie is shown in “parts” on Youtube BTW.(well, Pickett’s charge for sure).
Love that movie: I still find it hard to believe that Jeff Daniels was in Dumb and Dumber’ yet he played Joshua Chamberlain in Gettysburg perfectly.

I am watching “Gettysburg” right now with my sons. My wife and I are taking them to Gettysburg, for the first time, tomorrow.
My sons will know of Lee, Pickett, Longstreet, Meade, Hancock & Chamberlain.

I wish the men in the picture were identified. Fifty years younger I could have picked out who was who.

My husband and some sons are watching it now, too. I hope you have a great visit tomorrow!

...the hosts did not count on Black Confederates attending the meeting and had no place to put them but the White Confederates made room for their Southern brothers. Bump.

It will be the first visit for both boys. I’m looking forward to seeing the new Visitor’s Center.

That is a very awesome monument. Have you ever seen the monument to Col. Strong Vincent? It is on top of Little Round Top and is the oldest monument in the park.

Wow, no kidding. Kinda says it all, doesn't it?
But I have to wonder ... how many folks go up there, look at that monument and ask "So, what's the deal with that 'L'?"
To: tanknetter
Battle line marker? L being left flank.
Should be a R for right and C or a large
monument at the center.

To me it had a double meaning. It was both the far left of the Union line and could also represent the “L” shape of the recused line. But I think it probably represents the former.
