Last year there was a Senate hearing panel with some sheriffs from our border states...

On of the sheriffs said that the Mexian females will wait until the last minute, lying on the ground on their side of the border, in labor, and then roll across the border or get pushed over by relatives...all of them laughing at the American authorities and sneering...

Then the American authorites have to put her in an ambulance and take her to a hospital...

They talked of having to stand on our side watching this and not being able to stop it...

Too bad they could not just roll her back...

““Critics say the system could be abused by illegal immigrants who report bogus crimes to get the visas”

Time to summon Captain Obvious........”

You would think, huh? I researched the bill this was slipped into.

Congress created two new nonimmigrant visa categories with the passage of the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000.

About the visas
• T visa provides legal status for victims of trafficking, including those who are recruited for labor or services through force, fraud or coercion.

• U visa is designated for victims of crimes such as murder, assault, rape and sexual exploitation. The criminal activity must violate U.S. laws and/or occur in the U.S.[snip]

http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/crim/traffickingsummary.php

From DOJ: “On October 28, 2000, the President BUSH signed into law the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000. This new law, which was passed virtually unanimously by both houses of Congress, addresses issues of worker exploitation resulting from trafficking in persons. “

Virtually nothing is out there about objection to these visas being slipped into such a benevolent sounding piece of legislation. This one slipped by us. The sponsors were bi-partisan, the GOP being PC, fell in line. I suppose no congressman would want to vote NO on something sounding this ‘good’ and popular, so few did anything to stop it. Duncan Hunter, Ron Paul, Inhofe didn’t vote on it at all. Congress was Republican controlled at the time, right? In the house in 2000, DeLay, DeMint (dang!), Peter King, Tancredo (dang again, but Tom isn’t that bright!) and some of the typical moderate GOP were among the 37 original sponsors of the bill...they had to know about the visas, right?

For votes and sponsors, see:
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d106:h.r.03244:

It’s renewed every few years, and Sensenbrenner and some others (I haven’t found the names) did try to clarify some of it. It was originally overseen by the DOJ...strange for a visa management?....but was later put under DHS. With Obama it looks like the visas will be as popular as matricula consular cards.

Funny, I thought Bush took office on Jan 20, 2001.
