I just heard the news that former CBS anchorman Walter Cronkite died. And perhaps I will be one of the few with the guts to be real and say it: I'm not sad to see this overrated liar go. Buh-bye.
Cronkite enjoyed a long and glamorous life, unlike many of our late teen and 20-something American troops against whom he editorialized on a nightly basis. They died on the killing fields of Vietnam in no small part because he contributed to the video demoralization of America and the resulting lack of commitment to help our boys win the Vietnam War.
I'm sure that Cronkite will be remembered gushingly by all of the liberal mainstream media robots whom he spawned and who idolize him (and probably many gutless idiots on the right, too). In so many ways, he is their Michael Jackson, minus the creativity and talent. In life, they already exalted Cronkite far, far beyond what he deserved and completely ignored his awful transgressions against our country.
Walter Cronkite Defeated America on TV But the man they called "The Most Trusted Man in America" was really something far different: The Most Destructive Man in America. And that is how he should be remembered. He had the blood of thousands of American men--some of them really just boys--on his hands.

“From at least early 1964 on the stated military objective of U.S. forces in Viet Nam was to draw the Viet Cong out into a set piece battle where they could be destroyed. This is EXACTLY what happened in battles of TET 68 and the media at home turned the greatest victory of the war into a defeat in the minds of most Americans.’
BINGO!! That was Westmoreland’s strategy. It worked out as intended. The problem was that the ONLY successful aspect of the Red’s strategy was to cath the US and their South Viet allies flatfooted, ala the Dec 16 1944 Ardennes Offensive. The press was able to transform this one tactical positive for the Commies into a complete victory, despite the fact that they held only one objective, Hue; for more than a three weeks.
I prefer not to speak ill of the dead.
However, his legacy has been written.

Gary Owen to you sir!! You embody the stuff that most of my comrades in arms and many Viet vets were made of, the fortitude that enables one to step up to do the necessary thing in the direst of times. Just like the kind of guys that saved my life on several occasions. Just like one of the greatest of them, a man that you surely knew well, Rick Rescorla.

The media did the same thing when Sirhan Sirhan knocked off RFK. It was blamed on some kind of nebulous American propensity for violence and, of course, intolerance, even though Sirhan Sirhan was a PLO supporter and had worked for a mobster who was associated with Jack Ruby and another mobster who, along with JFK, was screwing Marilyn Monroe. That this is all coincidental, I find doubtful.
Totally correct.
1st tour, we were doing S and D and RoadRunners against VC only, with occasional PAVN advisors.
2d tour, it was all PAVN with Sov and PLA advisors. They even brought PT-76 and later T54/55 south.
I knew I would strike a very raw nerve when I made that post. It was not my intention to infuriate or depress anyone more so than now. My basic point is that life is too short for such bitterness and while we may never forgive and forget, letting go of the anger is the healthiest thing you could do. Trust me. Before my cardiac arrest last year, I was always angry and bitter. Afterwards, I realized that I had a second chance in life, and that it was time for me to calm down and adopt a better attitude toward life. I think I’ve survived very well by letting God make the decisions as to reward or punishment, either in this life or in eternity.
A healthy attitude. With all that's going on in the world today, it's important to remember that "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord."

Glad to hear you are doing well after such a serious health issue as your heart attack last year. I’ve been busy dealing with one in my own circle of close ones this year as well.
Thank you for sharing precisely what I also live by day to day. You have no idea what I have sacrificed in order to bring more Joy & Happiness to others. En Masse.
And you’re right, it does start with releasing all to the will of The LOVE Itself. Which for me commenced decades ago.
I have since seen that the one thing The LOVE Itself needs more of in this world is...
...more LOVE.
And that only comes when...
...people are FREE.
The seeds of America’s FREEDOM now being at great risk, in a new time of war, began when our FREE Press started to neglect telling the American People “Just the FACTS, Ma’am” during the Vietnam War.
Which I witnessed, during and after my being at that war’s 1st Major Battles.

Most especially by TV’s WALTER CRONKITE, who later on publically called for America’s 11 Southern States to SECEDE from our Union.
A true mirror into his agenda driven TV reporting not delivered in America’s best interests all along.
Today’s American Media, that is busy now eulogizing his life, has been following WALTER CRONKITE’s lead in not givng the American People “Just the FACTS, Ma’am” Journalism. About a new White House’s push to acquire a lot more power over the FREE.
FREEDOM is, as FREEDOM does, I suppose..?
Without rest.

If ANYONE misses him, I assure you it isn’t ME!!! Now if only Henry the K takes HIS long dirt nap. But yet and still they have had forty years and more longer than some 58,200 of my brothers did. Not to mention the MIAs that Henry wrote off so he could “end the war” and get his f*&%ing Nobel Peace Prize... And people wonder why I STAY pissed off at the Feds.
100% is all you’ll ever get PAID for, but the sum of your disabilities can surely climb WAY over that... It’s all in their little charts at the VA.
I knew an SF SSG who came north to Northern I Corp and was attached to the 75th Rangers with the 1st Bde, 5th Mech Inf Div. He told me unclassified stuff about SFD B-50 working out of Nha Trang’s Project Omega. He mentioned the Road Runner Teams there. Were you with that outfit?
I knew they had PT-76 at Ben Het in 69, and the 69th Armor knocked out a couple of them. They had us doing more frequent coincidence range finder and fire control system checks and loading a bit more HEAT in our basic load in anticipation of anti-armor encounters. But I was unaware of T54/55’s over the border untill the spring of ‘72 and their victorious offensive in 75. Where did they bring up the heavier armor?
This will be a good weekend not to ever turn on CBS - it’s nauseating with all the crapspewing going on about Herr Kronkite. I’m with you, Brother - I stay angry. Nowhere else to go with these treasonous bastards. Henry the K is pushing hard for the Global One World Govt. I am sure he thinks he’ll have a seat at that table. He and his ilk grossly underestimate about 80% of the American people. We are not complete sheep....and I don’t think we ever will be. Now there’s my optimistic statement for the day!!!
Roadrunners in the vills between Tay Ninh and Trang Bang areas.
Some work in cooperation with the SEALS at Go Da Ha. They were very anti-social MFs with great chow!
Generally the areas referred to as Fishhook and Parrot's Beak, and into Cambod from there when needed.
