The Republican Party is absolutely useless.

Oh, well, it was never in any doubt. Republicans don’t have the numbers and they are so discouraged at how outnumbered they are, they decided to let this one go so they could fight on other fronts (like health care). it sucks, but I never expected anything different. And it’s not like confirming Sotomayor will change anything all that much, as David Souter was also a lefty.

“Smooth hearings” are what happens when people wet themselves any time they think the race card will be played against them for saying what needs to be said or asking a question that needs to be asked.

Did anyone expect Snowe, Collins, Lugar, etc. to vote ANYTHING but with the Liberals? These are RINO's of the highest order, and can be counted on by the Democrats to vote with them.

Lindsay Graham and others will cave, also, and it has NOTHING to do with "the Hearings"; those were for TV facetime and show only.

I know that Supreme Court appointments are lifetime appointments and short of impeachment, justices can’t be removed. Is the office of Chief Justice under the same restrictions … can he or she be demoted?

“Then my sneeze shot and upstairs to a meeting with Justice Thurgood Marshall. I'd asked for a meeting because of his public statement to Carl Rowan that I was a racist.”
—RR,”The Reagan Diaries."

Thurgood Marshall—The first and,so far, last black racist on the Supreme Court.

“Wise Latina woman...”
—Sotomayor

The first and,by the grace of God,LAST racist hispanic on the Supreme Court.

Ah, she’s slick as glass and wait until the Republicans need her to vote on some policy that’s important to our nation. A bunch of idiots.

It seems that America will go the way of the Roman republic, which the Founding father tried to prevent. They gave us a republican form of government, and it was up to us to preserve it. The republic is dead, and the Supreme Court drove the stake through the heart of the Constitution. Three things killed our republic: (1) the Supreme Court abandoned strict originist interpretation; (2) the usurpation of state's rights by the federal government; (3) the acceptance of multiculturalism.

No matter which party is in office, there is no realistic way to reverse these republic killers. At some point, demographics will make reform impossible. This country will be overrun with Hispanics and Latinos who do not have a tradition of democracy nor any intention of becoming “Americanized.”
Socialism will destroy the economy and the society. Personal liberty, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, and the freedom to bear arms will be suppressed by a socialist/fascist central government. All media will be controlled by the government, and those that fail to fully support the government will be considered terrorists.
Thomas Jefferson believed that revolution was needed from generation to generation in order to grow the tree of liberty. It's been a long time since we had a full blown revolution, and maybe it's long over due.

I’ve never been one of those conservatives who like to rail about the Republican Party, but I’m getting closer to being peeved at the party. They’ve got to start fighting for conservative principles.

The hearings were not "smooth." To the contrary, Sotomayor lied, and lied, and lied again, claiming that her repeated words did not mean what they clearly meant.

Is anyone else infuriated that a Republican (Bush I) was the first to appoint her to the federal bench?

She refused to answer a yes or no question on the Second Amemdment from Coburn today. And there are “Republicans” who will support this person. We really must be near the end.

it could be worse... it's simply a RAT filling a RAT seat and they all vote the same way, worng, but at least she's a buffoon that will be taken as such and not losing a Right minded judge.

Told ya they'd roll over.

Republicans will never "Bork" a RAT judicial nominee (the last time the GOP defeated a RAT judicial nomination was during the Cleveland administration!) RATs will stoop to ANYTHING to derail a GOP nominee, even sinking to looking up Robert Bork's video rental history to try and find something "embarrassing" on him. Republicans, on the other hand, don't even have the spine to vote against a RAT judge on the Senate floor -- let alone go after them in a committee hearing.

Even normally staunch conservatives like Jeff Sessions and Tom Coburn are now saying she'll win confirmation easily.

Smooth when compared to the Bork hearings; when a truly good and wise judge was vilified, maligned, and excoriated. When Soto is on the bench, she will be herself again: a left-wing, activist judge.
