Freepers, get the word out loud and wide. The Vancouver Sun "journalist" Chris Parry that defamed Jim Robinson and FreeRepublic is none other than radical left blogger "Hollywoodoz" at the Daily Kos. In addition to writting for the Vancouver Sun, Chris is a frustrated and failed internet entrepreneur, having launched many websites and blogs, all of which have virtually no traffic, following, or success. Chris also writes movie reviews, though these are pretty lame.
Chris Parry actually advocated attacking "negros" and blaming the republicans for it. Just because I didn't reply to your posts immediately today doesn't mean I'm hiding. Some of us actually like to get out in the fresh air on beautiful summer Sundays with friends and family.
This Chris Parry seems to me like a real jerk with a political ax to grind. However, we here at FR gave him the excuse to grind that ax. There's been some great soul-searching recently (and I have received many responses to that effect from long-time Freepers who agree) and it would be really unfortunate for that to be lost as everyone hunkers down and pretends it was all some kind of "outside job". Those who have made racist, offensive comments here know exactly who they are. In fact, I wish JimRob would put the pulled thread back up (with offensive comments blacked out) so we can all see again that those posts were made by numerous people; people who had been here for years in many cases and have long posting histories. They should be named and shamed. This kind of behavior had been allowed to escalate for too long.
To become overly defensive (and many of you do seem quite defensive) at this point and pretend that none of these comments were made by "real freepers" would not only be a great act of self-delusion but will be to the detriment of the future of FR. The fact that it was allowed to go on for so long, and was accepted by so many here, is what led to this moment. (And it was accepted, make no mistake. That thread sat here for a long time, with offensive posts intact. It was reviewed, amazingly reinstated and only pulled when the media heat became too much. That's NOT the way we should conduct ourselves, as if the racism is all right here until the "outside world" exposes it. That's cowardly.)
By all means, go after Chris Parry. He deserves it. But you will be harming the future of FR if you don't acknowledge what led to this.
With that, I'm heading back out into the sun. :-)

Wow. These are the same link backs to a sexual predator who was after my daughter. The predator is not him, however the sites for posting child pornography and “fishing” are all included in the oz handle when cross referenced in google search. This brings back many bad memories.
