This is the picture in question. Keep in mind that Malia is only 11 years old.

Personally, I can see why some feel that she is dressed inappropriately for an 11 year old, especially the daughter of the POTUS on an official trip. I fail to see where race has anything to do with it.

Is any criticism fair, particularly of the parents who let her dress this way? Or is this dress just fine? Or are we obligated to ignore politically charged icons worn by 11 year old girls on official trips paid for by the taxpayers?

The peace symbol is ubiquitous on tween clothing these days. There’s nothing “politically charged” about it. The peace symbol, to kids these days, means nothing more than “peace is good” (it is, isn’t it?) and they think they look cool because it looks like the ‘60s (which they barely know about). It’s an innocent style fad, like tie dye (which has also come back in style). People need to stop trying to make it something it’s not. (And, yes, I know the symbol originally was anti-nuclear but that was a UK-based group that is barely known in the US and if you asked most Americans about the peace symbol they would make no such political association).

The problem was comments made about her, not what she was wearing, and additional racist comments about her mother.

That and apparently nobody noticed and reported it to the moderators until someone outside found it and publicized it.

They did it on purpose. They must have known, or maybe not. One thing I’ve noticed is Obama is so far removed from ordinary people, unlike the Clintons, who at least could pretend to be Americans. My gut says it was a setup- to see people get upset and then turn it into a cause. They are without shame. Using their daughter like she is a political football. It is disgusting. Then there’s the COUSIN who came on the taxpayer dime, next to the daughter, dressed in sweats...

Knowing Obamah’s baby momma, I bet those cool shades Malia has on are some high-dollar designer label.

I was away when the American Chicken Footprint controversy began, so I hope I can add my comments here without causing David Poofter a case of the vapors.

The symbol on this little kid's tee shirt looked a little ragged, so I zoomed the image waaaay up to get a closer look.

From that close-up examination, it appears that Mommie Dearest, spends all the family wardrobe $$ on herself. The logo on that shirt looks like a cheap, boardwalk iron-on that is separating from the fabric after too many washings.

Really cheesy for a first daughter to be wearing on an official trip, but pretty much what I've come to expect from the Chicago mob now in residence at the White House.

Not-so-great representative of the American Girl.

No............. this is the picture and it's 10x worse.

PhotobucketThis is her cuz and are you going to tell me the prez and the wife didn't think this was inappropriate? Also, why are we paying for all of their relatives to go on every damn trip? They are PIGS. I said it once and I'll say it again....PIGS. elitist user hypoctites that tell people to suck it up and give up some of their pie while they spend tax payers dollars like they are drunken sailors. They are like some high school kid that was given a credit card with no limit on it. Ugh, they are disgustingly crude.
