Romney Gives Mass. Health Reform An 'A' [praises Romney Care, says it's time to go nationwide]

Former GOP Governor Helped Make 2006 Reform Reality.

BOSTON -- Three years after the inception of Massachusetts’ landmark health reform legislation, which required every citizen to buy insurance, NewsCenter 5’s Ed Harding wondered what former Gov. Mitt Romney, a key political architect of the plan, thought of its progress. Call it protecting his legacy, well-earned pride, or seeing the glass as half-full, but Romney says Massachusetts deserves an ‘A.’

“It’s working like we had hoped it would work,” the one-time republic presidential candidate said. “We got nearly everybody in Massachusetts health insurance, which really, something people didn't think was possible.”

Romney said the same can be done nationwide, though he concedes what many in the Bay State are grappling with now, that the hardest part of the reform debate is controlling costs. It is projected that within a decade health care will account for 20 percent of all money spent in the United States.

Currently, health care accounts for between 17 and 18 percent of the United States’ gross domestic product.

“It’s huge,” said Romney. “We’ve got two challenges. One is to get everybody insured. Believe it or not that's the relatively easy job. The other job is to reign in the inflation associated with health care. We can do that too but it's a lot of work.”

Romney points to a recent analysis by the pro-reform Massachusetts Taxpayers’ Association, showing that since near-universal coverage was implemented in 2006, state taxpayers have had to shell out an additional $88 million per year to insure an additional 430,000 citizens.

“Some people say. ‘Oh, it's expensive,’ but actually, it cost less than two percent of the state budget.”

Romney is closely following the reform debate in Washington, DC, and pointed to President Barack Obama’s proposal for a government-run so-called public plan option as a “big mistake.”

“The current system with over 1,000 insurers in this country, is perfectly capable adequate to provide choice to people in America,” Romney said.

The former governor declined to answer when Harding asked if health care is a right of a privilege in the United States. He did insist, however, that on a national level politicians ought to be able to create a system where every citizen has health insurance.

If I never hear Romey’s name again it will be too soon. They can stop trying to shove that POS down our throats. You want to make sure Obama is re-elected? Support Romney. It will be the biggest landslide in history. Conservatives and Republicans aren’t going to vote for a Socialist like him.

SLICK WILLARD is a FINGER-IN-THE-WIND (anything for a vote) politician and has no core. He wants to tie us all to the roof of the Romney family wagon and take us all for a RIDE!

SLICK WILLARD can't be trusted to take care of the family pet, so why would anyone trust him with anything else?

UNFIT FOR DOGGIE DAYCARE...UNFIT FOR AMERICA!

Romney picked as 2012 GOP front-runner"

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Conservative activists on Saturday named former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney the winner of a poll for best 2012 GOP presidential candidate...

Great, just great. "Conservative activists"? More like Rockefeller Republicans!

I'm sick and tired of all the RINOs telling us we need to "moderate" for wider appeal to elect those who cater to and appease DUmocrats. Run a REAGAN CONSERVATIVE and let's see what happens.

1984, better days in Blue America, now 2009, the Twilight Zone Marxist-Fascist Red America (where the RINO establishment is too scared to run a candidate to the right of Wally Mondale).

He brings in the people to vote for him in these straw polls, it has even been documented in the NYTimes and Boston Globe.

Popular and fun...

Yeah, that's why we do it.

That fact that we deal with the reality of Mitts record and defend our principles against a man who has little to any has nothing to do with it.

Yuppers, you got us...

Well then..... get out there and vote in the primary and get everyone you know to vote in the primary...

I intend to, just like last year and every other year I've been eligible to vote.

Trouble is, a lot of democrats will be voting in our primaries too, just like last year, and if we don't get reform out of the GOP, we're gonna end up with the worst candidate possible, just like last year.

the alternate liberal party, aka the Republicans.

Yup...liberal light. They need to change their platform to match their behavior.

I love that map - clearly shows how much America loved Reagan and what he represented!

Question: does anyone know the % conservative vs. liberal in 1984?

Considering today we have a 2:1 conservative advantage, it would be interesting to relate today's ratio back to 1984's map.

America is doomed and though the largest part of the reasons for our destruction can be laid on the American communist democrat party (the evil of their sins against God,family and country is mounted up to heavens) nevertheless the rino politicians of the liberal GOP are as bad as the communist politicians of the left..
The sin of the people is they love to have it so but the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness.
Come LORD Jesus, rule and reign in the midst of all thine enemies.

Romney’s socialist tendency is a reflection of the direction in which the OP has moved. We have one big socialist Republicrat party system. We need a party based on strong Conservative principles to restore the two party system.

[within a decade health care will account for 20 percent of all money spent in the United States.]

Piled on top of the over 10 thousand thousand thousand thousand dollars (that's 10,000,000,000,000 dollars for those who can not count, no thanks to the failed secular government school systems where America's children are dumbed down every day) the liberal and rino Congress and the evil president has already laid on the people and on their children in America. It is a number that is hard to count and envision. And the democrat congress with the rino s help is getting ready to lay more taxpayers monies on top of this this unpayable debt.
The foolish dems of this country have a lot, a very lot, to answer for.
The blind lead the blind into the ditch. And the foolish utopian secular humanists will be the last to know the destruction they are responsible for. The 2nd coming of the Lord Jesus to Israel to rule and reign over all the earth as King for one thousand years (after the seven year tribulation to bring in His Kingdom and throne in Jerusalem in Israel) is so near as the one world government that bible believing Christians have talked about and warned against is here. Even the Pope is talking it and only those who do not believe the Scriptures do not realize that we are seeing bible prophecy fulfilled right before our eyes and God is using Israel to separate the body of Christ from all the atheists and secular humanists and religious peoples who all depend on their own good works for salvation instead of the faith of Our Lord Jesus Christ who suffered the wrath of God almighty in His own sinless body at the cross so that those of mankind's ungodly sinners who believe and confess how that He was crucified for our sins and rose again to everlasting life on the third day may be saved by grace through faith only in His atonement by His sinless blood, His good work for us at His cross.
