The owner of a tiny but famous Sacramento burger joint said a lawsuit about handicapped access could shut him down.
The Squeeze Inn, known for huge mounds of melted cheese on its burgers, violates the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the lawsuit alleges.
Kimberly Block, who says she has severly limited use of her legs, argues she suffered "embarrassment and humiliation" and that her civil rights were violated because of inadequate access inside the Fruitridge Road restaurant.

BEST THING I’VE READ in a long while. I love it. SO spot on...at least from my Golden side. And you can vouch for the Lab side. I’m sending it around to ALL my peeps. They’re gonna love it too. Xoxoxo for it.
Another FReeper who is a Chessie fan (ClintNSuhks?) added Chessies to the mix. Maybe he can find it and post it.
Do you have sufficient food and batteries and such should you need to hole up?
Do I need to come over and speak jive "Squirr" to them and try and get info?
I don’t know the owner, nor have I ever been to the Squeeze Inn, but my husband has RAVED about it and I hope to go there some day - provided its still open after this crazy #$%@ gets done with her agenda. My dad owned a sandwich shop while I was growing up, and something like this would have put him under immediately. This makes me sick to my stomach! Obviously Kimberly has little else to do with her time than to spread her misery. SO sad! Get a LIFE Kimberly!
/hijack. Have a good day, AAM. Take care. :-)
In Florida, you could have your ballot sent to you at home & mail it in - or call your Party headquaters & they will pick it up and deliver it for you..
Not sure about jury duty. I have not had to serve for the last few years.
In NC, on election day, if you are unable to come into the precinct, the precinct judge will bring a ballot to your car.
You can also early vote in a number of places or you can get the ballot sent to you.
Some people just like to complain. Her problem is easily solved by asking the clerk to swipe her card. They will do that - no problem.
So - next she will insist that everything in the store should be on low shelves for easy access.
There are so many things in life that are a burden, but there are still a lot of decent, good people who are willing to lend a hand. All you have to do is ask.
What about my rights to enjoy the quaint charm of this cute little place? If the Squeeze Inn is modified for wheelchair access it won’t be the “Squeeze” Inn. Even the art on the menu is cute and intended to be enjoyed in a spirit of humor, but maybe I should sue for humiliation if I had a broader rear end than the ones in the art so that I couldn’t squeeze in, or if I was too short to sit on the stools, or if I had an eating disorder and couldn’t swallow all that glorious cheese, or if I was a french-fry-loving vegan and there was no air filter to filter out the smoke from grilling the beef and it grossed me out, or if I only had a half-hour lunch and the place was packed at lunchtime and there was no room for me to squeeze in.
Indeed, the few need to adjust themselves to the many - it’s the democratic way. Let’s vote to squeeze in to the Squeeze Inn, not to roll in. Until then, I might volunteer to pick up and deliver her burger and suggest that she sue Funderland because she can’t ride on the roller coaster with her little friends.
She’s out for money and she’s humiliating herself. She should sue her lawyer for enabling her to become a bully, thereby damaging her character and reputation. And shame on our court system for threatening this wonderful business owner, who is making a living and providing jobs and continuing to successfully operate the Squeeze Inn for the many of us who love it.
I frequently see people getting out of their Corvette or [insert fancy sports car here], bearing a handicapped placard, and walking into the grocery store. They seem to walk just fine to me. This particularly irritates me because my 72 year old father, with a hip replacement and two knee replacements, hobbles into the store from a regular parking space. He refuses to get a handicapped placard since he feels they are for the truly handicapped.
I hope the ones from professional breeders are smarter than the ones from backyard breeders - every Golden I've known has been from a BYB and they were all dumber than a box of rocks. Sweet and adorable, yes, but I'd have to have something a little smarter than that.
I was so annoyed several years ago to see a bright red flashy sports car in the capper spot at a restaurant. It had lettering across the rear windshield, in the mode of the "Oakley" window tint that was popular back then. When I got closer, I could see that the lettering read "Kiss My Crippled Ass" and the car had real capper plates, not just the little fake hang tag. I laughed all the way into the restaurant. THAT's overcoming!
Or in every language in this melting pot country?

I've seen some of the BB Goldens and I'm afraid that intelligence has not been the goal . . . but really the show Goldens are the same way (as are some of the show Labs).
The Goldens and the Labs that are bred for the field are a completely different breed of cat from the show dogs. Really the two types have diverged to the point that a show dog can't do well in the field, and a field dog would be laughed at in the show ring.
My first Lab is by a show sire (who couldn't find a duck in a phone booth if you poured gravy on it) out of a field dam, a daughter of the only Chocolate Lab ever to win a field title. She is sort of halfway between the two body types, her body is rather chunky, but her head (and what's inside it) is pure field type Lab. My second Lab is ALL field both in body type and temperament, although she has a better head than most because her sire is noted for throwing typey heads.
Show type: (this is Dozer, Shelley's sire):
Field type: (this is my Ruby):
And the intermediate Shelley:
I’m sorry your cousin was disabled in a hunting “accident” however, why should I as a business have to cater to his special needs out of my pocket? He should hire people to go into the stores and get him what he needs if the store does not cater to those who have “disabilities”.
(please?)
Now THAT is just a scream! Good attitude will get you far.
