I frequently see people getting out of their Corvette or [insert fancy sports car here], bearing a handicapped placard, and walking into the grocery store. They seem to walk just fine to me. This particularly irritates me because my 72 year old father, with a hip replacement and two knee replacements, hobbles into the store from a regular parking space. He refuses to get a handicapped placard since he feels they are for the truly handicapped.
I was so annoyed several years ago to see a bright red flashy sports car in the capper spot at a restaurant. It had lettering across the rear windshield, in the mode of the "Oakley" window tint that was popular back then. When I got closer, I could see that the lettering read "Kiss My Crippled Ass" and the car had real capper plates, not just the little fake hang tag. I laughed all the way into the restaurant. THAT's overcoming!
Doctors sign off on those all the time, for basically any reason...It's become a parking racket....And a joke.
