DESPERATE DEAL: OBAMA'S MOSCOW GIVEAWAY
NY Post ^ | July 7, 2009 | Ralph Peters

Posted on 07/07/2009 2:12:08 AM PDT by Scanian

PRESIDENT Obama went to Moscow desperate for the appearance of a foreign-policy success. He got that illusion -- at a substantial cost to America's security.

The series of signing ceremonies in a grand Kremlin hall and the litany of agreements, accords and frameworks implied that the United States benefited from all the fuss. We didn't.

We got nothing of real importance. But the government of puppet-master Vladimir Putin (nominally just prime minister) got virtually all it wanted. In Moscow, this was Christmas in July.

Ignore the agenda-padding public-health memorandum and the meaningless "framework document on military cooperation" (we've had such agreements before; the Russians always just stiff us). The main course in Moscow was arms control.

President Obama's ideological bias against nuclear weapons dates back to his undergraduate years. Yet those weapons kept the peace between the world's great powers for 64 years. A few remarks about deterrence notwithstanding, Obama just doesn't get it.

He agreed to trim our nuclear-warhead arsenal by one-third and -- even more dangerously -- to cut the systems that deliver the nuclear payloads. In fact, the Russians don't care much about our warhead numbers (which will be chopped to a figure "between 1,500 and 1,675"). What they really wanted -- and got -- was a US cave-in regarding limits on our nuclear-capable bombers, submarines and missiles that could leave us with as few as 500 such systems, if the Russians continue to get their way as the final details are negotiated

We would have been better off if we'd gotten Amos and Andy instead of this pipsqueak.

The following is directed to Freepers who haven't signed up for monthlies...

12% is good.  100% is better.  Let's go Freepers.

Monthly donorship is a good way for us to avoid having to do the Freepathons.  Besides, it's a great way to pony up in style.

If you're on the verge of becoming a monthly donor or you think you would like to up your monthly donation a bit, has Jim got a deal for you.

Check this out.  There's an added incentive for a limited time only.  (Always wanted to type that...)

Thanks to Freepers who have been frequenting the Freepathon thread to ham it up with folks over there.  It helps to raise the visibility of the Freepathon.

Jump into the Monthly Donorship special thread too.  They have people standing around with horderves over there.  There's hot women with short skirts and lite beer too.

Ladies, there were 15 lifeguards over there a few minutes ago.  (I'm beginning to feel a bit guilty... heh heh heh...)

Just as well.

Let them nuke all the Blue Cities that voted for this dope.

To be honest, America’s poverty and violent criminal class has been concentrated like a cancer in America’s cities. From Killadelphia to Baltimore, Detroit, Oakland... cesspools all. To be sure, there are some decent folks in all of those nasty places, but fewer with each passing year.

If Russia nuked many of those places, it would be like flushing a huge toilet or excising diseased tissue.

Russia, on the other hand, is exactly the opposite. The three major cities of Russia have all of its intellectual and economic might. Moscow, St. Petersburg and Nizhney Novgorod - the three largest cities. Outside of those cities the drug-addled vodka soaked impoverished and disease ridden oblasts are dying.

So in a nuclear exchange, the US would benefit, Russia would be finished.

Don’t believe the old nuclear winter lies either. Don’t forget... more than 1000 nukes were set off just outside of Las Vegas and people still live there. One was set off right inside of Hiroshima, and 5 million people live in that prefecture today and over a million in Hiroshima City itself - where the background radiation is no worse than that of any other city.

Re nuclear winter — the nukes of WWII were popgun things compared with our modern H-bombs. The more dirt kicked up, the more impact on climate. Of course then we will not have to worry about global warming for quite a while.

I’d protest a nuke aimed at Chicago because that’s in my back yard.

I'm not wishing for it, mind you, but simply explaining that the US could likely benefit in the long run, while Russia would be finished.

If you have been to Russian cities (I have) and US cities (also), you would see a stark difference.

You probably do not live in the city itself, as it is a war-zone. Just 65 miles outside of Vegas we set off over 1000 nukes in less than 50 years.

This makes me furious, but I remember about five years ago when Bush was saying he wanted to reduce the warheads to around the same numbers. I was furious then too.

For some odd reason, Bush didn’t accomplish it. I wonder if Obama will. Congress will have to sign off on this won’t they?

Let’s hope they balk at it. I sense the Democrats are actually getting jittery about this guy’s actions. Think they’re beginning to see him for what he is, bigger threat than they every imagined.

Let’s hope.

“I’d protest a nuke aimed at Chicago because that’s in my back yard.”

I would, too. But it doesn’t erase the reality that major cities are a target. Conservatives need to leave these liberal areas now, if they can, and relocate to conservative states. It’s time to concentrate our forces and prepare. Besides, conservative areas grow food; Chicago liberals believe food comes from grocery stores. You don’t want to be living around a bunch of brain-dead idiots when times get tough.

Every day this bum finds another way to piss me off. I believe if this is a treaty change, it must be approved in the senate. If it is an agreement, it has the force of policy here but of course not in Russia as I cannot recall the last time they abided by any agreement. Of course I am sure he consulted with his military commanders about this idea, yeah sure.

1500 nukes? How many trident subs will have to be deactivated to accomplish this? How many Miniteman and Peacekeepers will also be scrapped? I wonder if Odummy thought about the ability to respond to a first strike, oh forget it, TOTUS probably was turned off the day they taught MAD at the Army War College. At what point does a nation like Russia decide they can wipe out the US with little worry about a counter strike?

While Odummy is the target of my rath now, he is not the first leader I have questioned on this subject as I did wonder what the hell Bush and Clinton were thinking too.

The deal is contingent on us not putting any anti missile setups in that neck of the woods.

We’ve gotten fat and sassy. We’re too big for our britches, and one of these days we’re going to get the shock of our lives, when it becomes apparent that we’re not half the nation we think we are.

We flatter ourselves that we know every little plan, and can counter anything that comes along.

Well 09/11 took place. One of these days that will look like child’s play.

Our leaders just don’t get it. Our intelligence agencies just don’t get it. Our immigration and naturalization people, just don’t get it. It’s better to strip searh your grandmother than profile.

Well, enough. I share your concerns. And this guy... good grief.

BTW, Bush scared the hell out of me too.

Our southern border is wide open, who cares if terrorists come it.

We allow 30,000 Saudi Nationals inside the nation on student visas, when just 19 took our trade center down.

It’s just nonsensical the thing our government does.

Megaton nukes are the cleanest compared to Hiroshima because the dust is kicked high in the atmosphere.
