Rove: Palin's resignation lacks clear strategy
CNN - Political Ticker ^ | 2009-07-05

(CNN) — The "architect" of George W. Bush's successful presidential campaigns has questions about Sarah Palin's resignation as governor.

"It's a risky strategy," Republican campaign mastermind Karl Rove told "Fox News Sunday."

Palin's unexpected announcement Friday that she will step down with 18 months left in her first term has left many in her party "a little perplexed," said Rove, whom Bush dubbed "The Architect" for managing his two victorious campaigns in 2000 and 2004.

Translation - Rove wasn’t included in on the decision, and is feeling a little left out.

I have NEVER seen such blind allegiance to a candidate until encountering Palin’s followers. (Other than Zero disciples).

I'm a Ron Paul guy and well aware that people can go overboard on the hero worship thing. At least with Paul, however, we have a candidate who has taken specific stands on a range of issues such as auditing the Fed, TARP, foreign wars, the war on drugs, aboltion of the Department of Energy, and Department of Education, etc.

Where does Sarah stand on any of these issues? She has an attractive image but beyond that all I see yet are slogans, soundbites, and generalities. Her relationship with Billy Kristol is also far too close for my tastes.

“”She also complained that too much time and taxpayer expense was going toward fighting ethics investigations, and that the mainstream media continued with unfair attacks on her and her family.””

Wouldn’t a JOURNALIST use the word EXPLAINED, as opposed to “complained”? Shakes head...

“”He called her move unclear and therefore a potentially harmful strategy for a politician.

“Effective strategies in politics are ones that are so clear and obvious that people can grasp,” Rove said. “It’s not clear what she’s doing and why.””

Well Karl, it is clear that Sarah didn’t run her plans by you RNC folks first, but somehow, I find that to be still another extraordinarily appealing trait of hers. If she decides to never again enter the political arena, I certainly would understand, though she never has struck me as the type who will take her ball and go home ; } So, why not try this - how about you all stop talking/speculating/spinning issues that you really know nothing about.

"Effective strategies in politics are ones that are so clear and obvious that people can grasp," Rove said. "It's not clear what she's doing and why."

Does anyone disagree with the two points Rove is making here?

(1) Are effective political strategies opaque and perplexing?

(2) Is it clear what Palin is doing and why?

Captain, what is it like to get beamed up to the starship? I mean, do you get all tingly inside?

Sorry for making fun at your expense, but all I needed to know was that you're a "Ron Paul guy".

The Architect" for managing his two victorious campaigns in 2000 and 2004.

Perhaps we need to remember Karl's stratergy led to the loss of both houses as well.

Palin’s ‘strategy’ because her strategy has not yet been announced

Her strategy is clear to anyone who really listened to her statement on July 3rd and the follow up post on her FaceBook page on July 4th. The media pundits either can't understand plain English, or are choosing to deliberately dilute, her statements.

I think her plans is great! Let go the constraints of office...campaign around the country. Get to know people in each state and win a real groundswell and grassroots support...not only for her, but those she is willing to back.

Rove simply stated the obvious. I read the entire article and couldn’t disagree with any of his observations.

I like Palin and hope she pulls this off. I’d like to see her head up a Contract with America 2010.

Palin’s decision to resign was, indeed, “risky,” and the outcome is “unclear,” as Rove pointed out. Even those of us who support her wholeheartedly should be able to agree with that.

So I don’t get all the snarky comments on this thread.

I firmly believe Sarah would be well advised to seek Roves advise on things then decide for herself.

Or, since Rove has no interest in Palin's success, she can just skip his advice and move on.

Interesting style of debate. You find out one thing about a person and then refuse to discuss anything presumbably on the theory that you don’t want to be confused by contrary facts.. You must have a pretty small universe of people to speak with.

LOL you know that she has no interest in his advice do you?

JMO but like most people she needs tons of advice from wise people. Unless of course you think shes infallable.

she will need to work on her speaking skills.. she certainly has the time to do it.

Ok , why don't you plan a rally to school Palin on her speaking skills, if 20,000 or more people show up, that will prove you point.

Or we could just wait until she makes her debut appearance in the lower 48.

Folks - Karl Rove isn’t the enemy.

Maybe not, but he is an incompetent helper, in this new type of political battle. Sarah will have to capture the heart and soul of the people in this land that love the Country and the Constitution, if she doesn't, nothing else matters.

Just because someone disagrees with you doesnt make them a traitor to the country LOL!

Unless of course your a supremacist of some sort.

Rove most definitly knows how to get someone elected. And I think hes honest. The problem would be Palins as soon as the media head she was in contact with him. They would paint her as being another Bushie.

Either way it looks silly to be slamming Rove and calling him a traitor. Really silly.
