A slew of research shows that America is losing the conservative Christian youth in massive droves. These studies show a generation being increasingly won over to a socialistic/secular-humanistic worldview in spite of the American church increasing their apologetic courses, children's programs, youth rallies and books and sermon series on child training.
What is happening? Could it be that we are doing something wrong? I would make the case that we are blatantly sinning in sending our kids to places that are, in fact, causing them to fall away. Let me lay out the case in three simple points.
( SNIP)
2. Is there any convincing evidence that a secular-humanistic public education is causing kids to stumble and fall away from the church?
* 88 percent of the children raised in evangelical homes leave church at the age of 18;
* 83 percent of children from committed Christian families attending public schools adopt a Marxist-socialist worldview;
* Mounting evidence that the public schools are successfully converting covenant children to secular humanism;
* Nehemiah Institute's graph showing the shocking result of a 20-year study on approximately 60,000 youth in 50 states from churchgoing families.

I attended Catholic schools all my life (including Catholic college). I collect books and have a book from Catholic grade school in 1955. I also have the 1909 McGuffey Readers which were used in public schools prior to the progressive era and mentions God all the time (no separation of God and state, huh, since we were founded under God). The Catholic book is revised from a public school book...identical except it refers to God and Jesus Christ several times.
My ideas have been garnered from extensive reading on the Progressive Era and especially The Closing of the American Mind by Bloom which explains the Post Modern German Philosophy (progressive) that was dominate in Europe in the late 1800’s and came here to the states by 1910....or so. The philosophy is in direct conflict with John Locke and Nature’s Law, Rousseau’s individualism, and Montesquieu’s separation of powers.
My point is that the reason the United States is NOT as atheistic, nihilistic and immoral ss Europe is now and was in the early 1900’s (that led to Weimar Republic, Mussolini’s Italy and Lenin is because of the strong Judeo Christian influence which the progressives had a much harder time destroying here in the states especially because of our unique system of government.
I’m not saying that all of the Founder’s philosophy has been destroyed, the tea parties are proof that it is not, but there is proof (Zero) that the progressives have the upper hand in this nation right now. True Christians (not progressives) need to recognize the ideas that are destroying this great nation so that we can take it back. (BTW, Notre Dame is a perfect example of progressives corrupting a Catholic institution). You can’t tell me that they advocate Christian thought when they entertain the devil and hold him up to esteem, as well as, promoting the Vagina monologues’ filth.
I can’t believe that you didn’t know that!!
Don’t tell me you actually thought that the steeple was there to focus and beam up prayers to god like an antena? LOL
I think that if you read about Gideon you’ll find that one of the things he had to do was tear down the ‘images’ in the grove...phallic symbols of the counterfeit priests and their followers.
Modern Christianity is an amalgam of assorted pagan rituals and trappings to the point that it is impotent but satisfying to the participants. If you’re a pew warmer you’re one of them.
The weak ones must be protected from all outside influences.
Of course they don’t have any impact in the rest of the world but they don’t suffer from as many distractions.
Amen. And yet we cannot shirk, we must rebuild. First our own soul, then our family, then our parish.

Exactly! A Christian’s first responsibility is to save his own soul. His most important mission field is his **own** children. He next most important mission field is the children of his own congregation. Once those duties are met then he can look outward.
The word “don't” does not go far enough. Government schools can **NOT** leave moral instruction to the parent or religious establishment.
They can NOT because a religiously, culturally, and politically neutral education is **impossible**! It is impossible for sentient beings to live in a moral vacuum. Something will fill that vacuum. It will be a godless morality or a God-centered one, and neither is neutral in content or consequences.
Your post alone is “Another Reason to Homeschool”!
It is for this reason government schools must be abolished. It is impossible for them to be neutral.
**It is not neutral in content or consequences to allow religion. If they do, what religion? Islam, Mormonism, Scientology, Catholicism, etc.?
** It is not religiously neutral for them to ban religion either. Doing this promotes and establishes an atheistic religious worldview, teaches children to compartmentalize their faith, and teaches them to think of religion as something to be done in private like a bathroom activity.
There is **NO** possible neutral stand for government schools. We must abolish them and assure that all children have access to a private education.
All my kids attended PS. One is a Captain in the USAF with a masters degree, another owns a construction company. I attended catholic grade school and high school, both of them are doing way better than I did at their age.
In my opinion, he can't. He would either betray his faith by "going along to get along", or he would be fired. One or the other.
And...It really irritates me when some teachers claim that they can sneak in a little bit of Christian values by merely being an example.
First of all, they are teaching the children that Christians are sneaky.
Second, if they were really a good example of Christianity they would have been fired already. So...Not only are they teaching children are sneaky, but they are a very poor example of Christianity if they have managed to keep their jobs.
“Cant [obey Psalm 1, Ephesians 6, or Deut. 6] very well, if a child is in a godless government school for the best hours of his awake hours.”
So, for Christian parents (the article asked about Christian parents -— so I’m not speaking to the godless conservatives here) to place their children in today’s government education-—under anti-Christ, anti-Bible, Humanist, Darwinian, Socialist teachers and curriculum demonstrates what?
Sheer ignorance of God’s word?
Rebellion against the authority of God, which in turn teaches their children rebellion against God?
The fear of man, instead of the fear of God?
Worldliness and compromise?
Selfishness and pride? -— Unwillingness to trust God and wait on Him to establish the family’s standard of living and direction, so both parents work to buy the unnecessarily expensive house, two cars, boat, and big-screen TV. -— God’s clear instruction about the rearing, education, and spirituality of their children is simply ignored to have what they want when they want it.
Ideas are the start of **everything**. We exist because we were once an idea in the mind of God.
(Please read my tagline. )
Ideas are sooooo important that it is the reason we have what I believe to be **professional** ( paid) government school defenders on this board.
It goes further than just the children.
Personally, I can’t see how a Christian teacher can justify working in a government school.
If they were true to their faith they would be fired within a day or two.
Christian teachers have two problems:
1) If they try to sneak in some Christianity through their example ( or indirectly through their teaching), they are teaching children that Christians are sneaky.
2) If they haven’t been fired already, the example of their Christianity is a very poor one, indeed!
So?....Will the work of true missionaries be harder or easier when these students are adults? Answer: It will be **lot** harder, because the true missionary must convince this adult that Christians are not sneaky hypocrites.
What? That government education can ‘t be neutral or that all children could have access to a private education?
All children have access to private grocery stores and housing. If they are too poor we provide vouchers ( food stamps or Section 8 vouchers).
And...NO school is religiously, politically, or culturally neutral. If you do not believe me try to describe a neutral school. I will have great fun with it.
Unfortunately, many of the bishops seem to have given up on this and have abandoned Catholic education. Families have to take on the burden for this.
“Did the Apostles only speak to believers? Did they only go where it was safe and already Christian? No. Christians have always been small lights in the darkness, and it is never counted a sin.”
But I question your comparison with the Apostles. The Apostles never spoke to unbelievers without preaching the Gospel to them. I can’t image any one of the Apostles taking a job as a school teacher in a Pagan school, and not using it as a platform to directly preach the Gospel of the Grace of God. They would have been willing (if necessary) to be fired, drug out of the school, beaten, and killed.
The correct Biblical prinicple has never been infiltration, but rather separation
“If they were true to their faith they would be fired within a day or two.

Yes, I agree entirely!
I especially appreciate the statement,
“If they havent been fired already, the example of their Christianity is a very poor one, indeed!”
“Religious upbringing should come from the parents, not the school.”
Isn’t that terrible?
My sis teaches in a small, rural school. She is a committed Christian, teaches right and wrong without preaching, and impacts the kids. Here in Los Angeles I would not do it, period. However, I homeschooled and now tutor, one on one. I believe the Lord uses me in these kids’ lives, not to preach the Gospel, but to pray for them, to teach them right from wrong, to love them.
“Each has a different Gift. One to teach, another to preach, another to xx.” If it is done in the name of the Lord, and if you do not teach that which you do not believe (ie Government propaganda), how can it not be the Lord’s work?
