Marching around with signs makes you "feel" good, but is not going to get it done. I've been there; done that.
It is time for civil disobedience. It's worked for the liberals for decades, why can't or won't we do it? Being hauled off from a peaceful "sit-in" is a misdemeanor.
Are Constitutionalists that afraid? Think what the Founding Fathers put on the line? Need I enumerate those who lost their lives, properties, wives/children, et al to be free men?
NO ONE is listening to you nor even acknowledging the TEA Parties. I may be wrong about today, the 4th - unless you all make MY point that can't be ignored by our new totalitarian Fedgov.
That means staying past your permit time frames; sit-ins; chaining yourselves together; chanting at the top of your lungs for Constitution restoration; and willing to stay overnight in jail for civil disobedience. Anything short of that will have NO affect. I guarantee it. Watch.
And yes, if I could be at one of those demonstrations, I would gladly and peacefully let Law Enforcement drag me off (no violence). There are none locally and I can't leave sick family to travel large distances.
How bad off is Cindy Sheehan after being carted off from so many events? Think about that!
It's time for the signs to mean something!!! I doubt anyone will try. You will all go home at the end of the protest/demonstration feeling good about yourselves, while Obambi, Reid, Pelosi, the MSM, et al will ignore such benign gatherings.
This Republic is done unless we RISE up! We need only a small amount of sacrifice that the Founding Fathers gave.
No one is willing to sacrifice a misdemeanor night in jail, like the socialists have done for decades, with much success.
No one is willing to make their stand across the street from the Marxist Senators' and Representives' homes.
Does anybody have any frigging balls left in this country? Anyone?
I'd do it, but there is nothing going on around my area (OC, CA) and I can't travel at the moment due to family illness. If I could, I would sit my ass down on the Capitol steps and dare the DC and Park police to haul me away against my Right to Assembly.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know you're thinking it's easy for me to say such on an Internet board. However, I grew up on the streets of Los Angeles, so I know a little about survival.
I sit here and write this, knowing that certain words I use are probably being entered into Fedgov database.
I, like the Founding Fathers have a lot to lose. I've been fortunate in my life, but I'm ready put much of it on the line to restore our Constitutional heritage. What will you do? Show up at a street corner and carry a sign? If that's all you will do, then the Republic is truly lost.
Take it easy. It’s getting to that point, have faith in the control freaks. They won’t be satisfied with their current level of control.
Once they start forcing swine flu vaccinations, you’ll see multitudes going ballistic.
Must go to bed. Can't understand.
Anyone who thinks patriots in this country don't do anything radical beyond the point of assembling and peacefully protesting against government tyranny ought to remember what Thomas Jefferson said in defense of violent farmer outbursts, "A little revolution every now and then is a GOOD thing." Emphasis mine.
Team Sarah is a diverse coalition of Americans dedicated to advancing the values that Sarah Palin represents in the political process.
The "tea-bagging" theme that we had to endure after our April demonstrations was disgusting. Rather than promote our theme, we ended up feeding their lust for disgusting humor.
Sorry, but I have come to believe that we can only sit back and wait for their supporters to realize that it is all ruined and we have to start working our way back.
Yep, that makes me a yellow-bellied coward. But, right now, they have us cornered. We lost the battle when, every week, American Idol became the sole topic of conversation for two whole days.
Six or seven million freepers dumping cable TV unless a FOX-only package is offered would do more that 50 tea-parties. (dumped mine right after the election, keeping internet of course).
The way to finish off the government media is pull their plug - cable television
I don’t think the anger is there yet, but it’s getting close. The fact that average people are protesting is a huge deal, but once they see the tea parties are a joke to the left, they will get stronger about it.
The right has never been faced with the need to use the tactics of the left to apply pressure for change. Some of us think those tactics are ipso facto illegitimate because of who and how they have been used in the past.
I am not among that number.
I once did - I was there. Unfortunately, the obami, reid, pelosi triad have deaf ear to bullhorns on street corners.

Yes sir. But let's start with non-violent but agressive civil disobedience. Think how well it has worked for the liberal/progressives over the decades (although they were actually violent -we don't want to go there, yet).
I'm thinking the ideology and policies of Martin Luther King. Peaceful, but assertive! If that doesn't work, we can re-think our strategy. Thanks for you input.

Do you have a town hall where you live? A federal building? A courthouse? Make your own tea party. Block the entrance. Get dragged away by the cops. Show us how its done. Be a leader!
Flawlessly accurate choice of words...
How can being called a something break your spirit? People die for freedom, and it has never been won in a single battle. This is a war for all free peoples. It has started, and we must as a people be heard. Nothing that is as important as freedon will be easily attained! To take a page from NH state motto. “LIVE FREE OR DIE”
“[A]ll experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed” (The Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States of America )
Wait, ANV, until Americans have reached the point of having little or nothing left to lose. Then: Viva la Revolucion!
Leftists do things slowly because theirs is the business of destruction, not rebuilding. Our business must be to not merely slow the flow of Marxism, but to reverse it. A political reversal of this sort can only be successful if it is accomplished suddenly and quickly. “You can’t cross the chasm in two small jumps.” (David Lloyd George)
But the nature of people is to not risk what they hold precious for gain that might not be unsuccessful. It’s when they have lost what is precious to them that they are ready to rise up and take it back.
Patience.
Keep informed, keep letting others know what is going on. The average American is clueless about this but they are easily swayed with the right facts. Get fired up for 2010. If we win back seats we can stop socialism in it's tracks. All you Freepers keep your heads up and fight back anyway you can. Don't give up on anything.
That is my entire point. If our side goes to the next level regarding civil disobedience (peaceful sit-ins and such) the MSM will have to take notice, whether good or bad.
If we want coverage, it's time to take it to a new paradigm. If enough Constitutionalists actually camped out on the Capitol steps and made the DC and Park police remove them, even the MSM would have to report such a huge event.
We need to stop thinking small and shove our faces right into the politicos. Again, and again, and again, think how well the leftist socialists have succeeded in such efforts. That is why we are where we are today. The socialists think big picture, the conservatives think minutia. Conservatives need to expound on why our system works for the every man.
You are so right. The amount of fatalism and negativity being expressed on this site really makes me wonder. The Tea Parties were very much noticed in April and today’s events could very well have an effect on wavering lawmakers re. Cap&Tax and Obamacare. Civil disobedience has its place and it may come to that. For now, let’s make the tea parties as large and splashy as possible and let’s please knock off the negative comments. They serve no one’s interest except the enemy’s.
I agree with you to a point - that eventually civil disobedience will be necessary. However, I do think that when people see the number of tea parties there will be today and the number of people attending (which I am hoping will be a lot more than on tax day) that people will start to pay attention. It’s really amazing that most people I told that I was going to a Tea Party today looked at me blankly. They had no clue and also no clue as to why I would want to do such a thing. I live in deep blue northwest CT so what do you expect. But I think if the protests are big enough and loud and angry enough and happen consistently that eventually people will notice and start thinking - maybe. It is sad though the level of ignorance that exists - most people are completely clueless about how Obama is stealing our liberty. One other thing - I am a veteran of the 70s anti-war demonstrations (used to be a big Berkeley lib - mea culpa) and they certainly had an effect in ending the war, I think. Not that I am opposed to civil disobedience - I agree with you that we are going to need to - we have a responsibility to in fact. But we need to build a movement, wake people up. Hell, even catatonic old Helen Thomas seems to be waking up, so maybe it’s possible that the rest of the drones might. I understand your frustration - I’m ready to chain myself to the Hartford statehouse - but I think I’d be the only one today.
I have not heard one single word about tea parties at all except for here. I even think that Fox News is ignoring them. I know they have important MJ and Sarah news but a two second report would not hurt.
