Sarah Palin, New Party ?????

Like many here, I am a political prognosticator. I followed Sarah Palin here for almost 2 years and told friends last May if McCain only chance is to pick Palin. So what does Sarah Palin's latest move mean?

I have to agree. I voted against 0bama when I pulled the lever for McCain.

Palin only made it a little easier to vote for a guy I did not like much.

IMO, McCain was hand picked by the media to lose, with the passive cooperation of the GOP.

A third party will keep US out of the WH, Senate, and the House

Who is "US"? I think the point is a lot of "US" don't feel represented or heard by the Republican party anymore.

More important, we need some folks out there shaking the bushes to find people who feel a burning need for more gasoline, fuel oil, natural gas, hydropower AND, best of all, NUKES.

Odds are Sarah will play to her strengths ~ and the big one when it comes to issues is ENERGY POLICY.

Limbaugh can be counted on here too.

I agree!!! The media did roll out the red carpet for mclaim.

I lost all respect for him when he dished Sarah. I seen the leader he would have been. It was not a pretty picture either

Our electorate is spread out in a politcal "bimodal saddle" with two modes.

There are no "moderates" or "independents". If you want to be a player in politics in this country you work in and around one of the two modes. Else, you are ON THE FRINGE.

“Prediction: Rush and Sarah will go on the road together, maybe with some others, and they will lay out emperor obama’s naked body for all to see. Millions will come out to see them. They will destroy cap and tax and they will destroy health care. “

OMG!!! If only

The meida would HAVE to cover it, how could they not!!!!!

But she’s still a loser.

She was a loser if she had any political aspirations beyond Gov. of Alaska the second she signed on with McCain. Witness the treatment she received from him and the other progressive Republicans ever since. But she did save both him and the Republican party from the well deserved beating they were going to get from rigging McCain as the nominee.

Why on earth do you think he chose her? Because he liked her politics? LOL! She brought him votes from his own party that he could NEVER dream of with anyone else he might have chosen to put on the ticket, not to mention actual crowds of people who came to see her, NOT HIM! Most presidential nominees are careful to choose someone who will not outshine the nominee. McCain, to save himself from the WORST beating in modern times, chose someone with whom he could play 2nd fiddle and it has bruised his very large ego IMO.

You’re mad. Alaska is more dependent on imports from the lower 48 than you obviously fathom. If Alaska departed, it wouldn’t take arms to bring it back. A few months of embargo and Alaskans would do anything to be readmitted.

Better to turn the Republican Party back to its conservative roots. Split parties against the democrats are a sure loser.

Too bad Rush will be on vacation next week. I’ll bet he will be calling in to Levin or Greta to comment on this.

“’But the theory that Sarah Palin could be competitive on a national stage was busted in November.
In the end, she didn’t help the ticket get even close.’”

You know all that hatred and backstabbing from the McCain camp, counterpunch is a McCain troll.

Whatever combination of votes that gives McCain the biggest coalition is alright in my book.
McCain will have a center-right coalition.

McCain understands the first rule of VP picks, everyone does. Do no harm. He knows that Lieberman at best would attract the same kind of voters that he himself already attracts, and it would be at the price of a significant chunk of his coalition.

I’ll break down the dynamics of the VP selection: most people don’t know who the Vice President is, nor do they care.

The VP pick gets only two big nights: the acceptance speech at the convention, and the VP debate, which gets a very small audience compared to presidential debates. Other than that, the VP is invisible, and most people don’t start paying attention until after the convention where the VP is nominated.

The people who actually care who is picked or could pick the guy out of a lineup are hardcore political junkies, who just like football fan, already have picked their team. They’re not persuadable.

This is why a VP pick can not help and can only harm.
The only people who care or follow the VP drama are people that are already onboard, and thus can only be lost by a bad pick.

Obama didn’t understand this.
The only people who care about his VP choice are die-hard Hillary supporters, and he lost a good chunk of them by not picking her.

No one else cares who he picked. After all, he should know, he’s Barack Obama! Why would they care about the other guy on the ticket? It’s all about him, not the other guy. Obama fans have a hard enough time keeping up with the Kardashians, let alone Paris, Britney, Ashton, Brad and Angelina, this season’s American Idol, the Lohans, the Simpson sisters, and not one Corey, but two. They certainly don’t have time for some uncool windbag with bad plugs like Joe Biden.

New Party baby.

Interesting. Could she gather a majority?

My continuing question is...why doesn't the RNC make a statement regarding the Honduras ? The rule of law was followed and Steele is at home "contemplating his navel". (Ask me about the genesis of THAT saying...)

My gosh you really are an anti-FR, anti-conservative troll.

To: South40
John McCain has already consolidated his base, according to Gallup. He could do himself harm with a bad pick though. Romney would retain as large a chunk of McCain supporters as anyone else. Lets face it, conservatives are a bitchy lot, and the more conservative you are, the more you have to bitch about. There is a certain threshold of diminishing returns with the conservative crowd. This is something McCain understands. He’s not going to alienate the broad center just to appease a few unappeasables on FreeRepublic.

But she was unable to pull in moderates and independents, who are essential to winning the White House.

And what do you think most of them are thinking about Hopey-Changey they installed about right now?

You incorrectly dissect the GOP. Noonan is an elitist—but hardly representative of the vast majority of Republicans. The Ivy League boys and girls are Democrats. Get out of your cocoon—the men and women who do the work, and raise the money, in the GOP are down-to-Earth regular folk. If you don't want to participate, then don't.

"CONSTITUTION Party, Sarah!"

Conservatives dumped the Tory Party in Canada. It took them a while but The Conservative Party runs Canada now.

Only Democrats use the term.

Wrong....read the book Neo-conservatism: The Autobiography of an Idea by the Godfather of All NeoCons, Irving Kristol . I don't know if he's Jewish, & I don't really care (so what???); besides, I'm a strong supporter of Bibi, in case you thought otherwise. BTW, as you probably know, Irving is the father of William Kristol of FOX News....not very Democratic to me! Just big-government Republicans w/ a one-world / globalist agenda.

Do the math, what do you think? Obama only got 70 million votes, surely we can take over or create another party and beat that easily, right? First thing we do is get all 60 million of republican voters to switch over and then we only need another 10 million and we have it in the bag.
