"Chris Wallace went on and on about how Palin should have prepared better so that all the networks and cable news outfits could get their satellite trucks set up, etc."M.

Which proves what Palin has said from the outset:

"But here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion - I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country. Americans expect us to go to Washington for the right reasons, and not just to mingle with the right people." Sarah Palin

Nope, my son’s roommate is there with the Guard and they email each other almost daily. Not a peep on Palin, other than the realy sharp poke at Jon Karry (who was in Vietnam).
Kosovo is really quiet, so a sudden combat death of a friend etc, etc, is a non-starter.

Of course, son did 2 combat tours in Irag as an 03Walks-a-lot and his bud is a rotorhead - so the saga is saraH is likely of little importance to them.

As far as other rumors - they are as close at the google bar - and worth spit for the most part.

Even the bruhaha over the dope dealing maybe mom-in-law has dissappeared from the local we-hate-Palin press.

In talking with neighbors etc the general thought is she just got fed up with the attacks on the family and basiclly told the world to F’Off. Which, in Alaska, will play pretty well.

In the end, I guess we will both have to wait and see what pops up next. One thing is for sure, the attacks will not stop.

Thanks for the information.

Most of the eagle’s A watched took the fish right out of their nets. Had a finback swim though one of the nets one day. Was close enough he could have reached it with a short pole.

He loved his time there, but with his musical abilities needs to be closer to Nashville.

I’ll frmail his latest.

Send it to any one you like..... ...His music is being played in Belgium....I bought him a waffle maker....Small bars in small towns...He's big in OOlitic or Nome or little town in Montana. And then there are the genius label that mom laughs at.....I was reminded by a member of Johnny Cash's family, that the only person who doesn't think you're a genius is the one that changes your diaper....He's got a lot of good people in his corner....Many excellant musicians to play with. National banjo, mondolin champions etc.

LOL - sorry part of along line of previous postings -

THe Bon Marche stores (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bon_March%C3%A9)

Lack of which indicates you are living
In the sticks
are a boondocker
are ‘just so Provincial’ darling....

Had a co-worker the company paid (a lot) to move to Alaska. His wife left after about 2 months of real Winter - among her (rather long)list of why she “just couldn't live here any longer” was

(ta dah)

no Bon Marche store. Anchorage is just uncivilized - don't you know....

They have thier own ‘unique’ cultural attractions. And shopping opportunites.

Anchorage has a lot of snow.

and dark.

And a downtown full of drunks.

But hey - they good enuf, eh?

(we have movies and all that as well, just not much in the way of fashionable shopping)

seemed to me that Anchorage had at least 2 of everything that we have in So. California.

I was there for 3 days in December a few years ago and only saw it at night, I spent the 10-2 daylight hours in an attorneys office.

No Olive Garden
No (most any) chain resturants like Chicis, Shakeys and so on.

SO have Wally World
Fred Meyers
Home Depot (No hoards of Mexicans is the parking lot tho)
Lowes
Got A Dairy Queen last year (went once, filthy place)
Now have Walgreens x2
Now have a Target

Have only Safeway as a chain supermarket

Less pollution than SoCal but then we don’t have In and Out Burger (uuuummmmmm good) - so I suppose on some Cosmic balance sheet we wind up with less than everyone and more than most.....

Sorry about being stuck with lawyers, shame you didn’t get to Girdwood for some skiing.

Lost our KMart with the frawn down a couple of years ago

Never been in an “In and Out Burger”, everyone just used to go there to get the bumper stickers and modify them to read:

In and Out urge!

Yeah there’s another gray lining on the gray cloud. Hopefully some one else (Loren Leman?) will step up.

I’m a bit put off by all the freepers who seem to be celebrating this as a “brilliant move!! beat them at their own game” ect. You can put me down for a WTF on their train of thought.

“I believe history will look back on Sarah Palin as one of Alaska’s great gifts to all peoples.”

That was the one that stuck out for me.

I posted the following on another thread:

I don’t remember exactly how she said it, but I came away with the impression that she saw how these troops are fighting for their families, for Alaska, but most of all - for America. And that they understand the limited time they have in order to be successful, and the urgency of their duty. (Time is fleeting as my old man used to say!)

The same goes for Sarah. Her family is important. Alaska is important. But RIGHT NOW, America is in danger and time is short.

I have training in Organizational Theory (another discipline that most people don’t even know exists.)

One of the most important important qualities a manager can have is that they train a good replacement for their own position. That not only demonstrates excellence, but confidence in their own ability and a good reason to put confidence in that manager. It shows respect toward the people on his staff. It gives the organization more flexibility.

In addition gives the manager the opportunity to take advantage of their own opportunities without being concerned about abandoning their own responsibilities, whether the opportunity is within that organization, or if it is EXTERNAL to the organization.

This is Sarah Palin!

She CLEARLY has trained her replacement.

She CLEARLY has his respect (as well as the respect of the state)

She reminds me of the excellent “How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying” 1967 movie. However, in this case, she is really IS competent, instead of being a sycophant.

She reminds me of Lee Iacocca in many ways, and what he is clamoring about now. In his book, “Where Have All the Leaders Gone?”, Iacocca writes:

“. Am I the only guy in this country who’s fed up with what’s happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder. We’ve got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we’ve got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can’t even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, “Stay the course.”

Stay the course? You’ve got to be kidding. This is America, not the damned Titanic. I’ll give you a sound bite: Throw the bums out! .”

The book was published in ‘87 and was VERY critical of Pres.Bush. You can see more excerpts at Snopes: http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/iacocca.asp ... If you look at his criticism of Pres.Bush, though, you will find it easy to see he can have no great love for the way Dear Leader’s administration is behaving (Putting a 31yo political operative “in charge” of the auto industry?) and if he didn’t like that Pres.Bush didn’t read newspapers, how do you think he feels about a Congress who doesn’t read the legislation they vote on?

I believe he will be STRONGLY supportive of Sarah Palin, unless he is dead set against her social conservative views, because she IS the type of leader he has been seeking.

Here is a link to his “Leadership Scorecard”... http://www.leeiacocca.com/scorecard/scorecard.pdf ... see how she would stack up. (There is even more description of those 9-C’s in the snopes linked text) See what you think.
