UPDATE: Palin To Resign As Alaska Governor UPDATE: KTUU-TV in Anchorage reports that Palin not only won't seek re-election, but will resign later this month.
ORIGINAL POST: Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has announced she will not run for re-election in 2010, CNN reports. She's scheduled to make an announcement shortly.
The decision frees Palin to travel in the Lower 48 as she considers a potential run for president in 2012. A re-election campaign could also have been tough on the former vice presidential nominee; her approval rating has dropped from stratospheric highs, and a number of candidates in both parties are said to be considering runs.
Even if she won, the race would have been dominated by the specter of a presidential bid, giving her adversaries an opportunity to wound her politically. She's still fending off ethics complaints, many spurred by the "Troopergate" scandal.

This seems a little suspicious after all the comotion with Gov. Sanford. Both are Republican governors. Perhaps there is some behing the scene coersion taking place in order to remove governors who don't bow down to Obama.
It also is strange that she is stepping down on the 26th just one day before the NLE 09 activity.
Maybe she is leaving to protect her family from threats by the national Thugs in charge.

If she moves to another state, how long does it take for her to get residency and where does that put her on a presidential election cycle?

Surely you do not think they will give her truthful reporting do you?
Tell them nothing! Then go about her business doing whatever she wants.
Why honor the media with interviews when they will just insult her. NO MORE MEDIA

I agree.
It is a pity our leaders are trashed and have to stand alone. Maybe we should just go to the aid of the ones being trashed. There is always a reason the liberals hate some on our side.
Usually because they are effective.

Please, can she move to Illinois?

Yeah it seems that would be true. I’m not a fan of Romney, nice guy, just not that in to him. I do like the Gov of Indiana. Just read a great article about him.

Stay home?
Haven’t you learned a lesson during this election. We are about to lose America because of people that “stayed” home.
Get real.
No use posting on a conservative site if you would even consider giving a vote to a democrat.

Who knows what was coming for the woman to handle.
I trust her judgement. She is who she is - no matter if governor or not. And, I like who she is.
All the talk of quitter coming from “conservatives”. You would think the libs were posting here.

Well, some of them comments are from “new” members that joined about the same time the Palin announcement was made. Huge coincidence I know. I like Palin and I support her decision.

She is the one resigning . Why not come out with both barrels blazing NOW ? We need somebody to speak out NOW . Three years from now will be too late !
