UPDATE: Palin To Resign As Alaska Governor UPDATE: KTUU-TV in Anchorage reports that Palin not only won't seek re-election, but will resign later this month.

ORIGINAL POST: Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has announced she will not run for re-election in 2010, CNN reports. She's scheduled to make an announcement shortly.

The decision frees Palin to travel in the Lower 48 as she considers a potential run for president in 2012. A re-election campaign could also have been tough on the former vice presidential nominee; her approval rating has dropped from stratospheric highs, and a number of candidates in both parties are said to be considering runs.

Even if she won, the race would have been dominated by the specter of a presidential bid, giving her adversaries an opportunity to wound her politically. She's still fending off ethics complaints, many spurred by the "Troopergate" scandal.

I went to Drudge because the site had been referenced on the radio. Subsequently, I saw the link for “Free Republic” and was intrigued. I clicked the link, liked what I saw, and signed up shortly after that.

My original screen name was “seeker”. Perhaps one of you might remember me, maybe not. I even went toe-to-toe with “ash”, “ashisalive” (or whoever else he became after he had been repeatedly banned by JimRob) a few times.

I have explained this before to others. Do either of you need me to list the names of several Freepers who were active at that time, but no longer?

It’s highly unfortunate that I had to take a necessary hiatus from this Forum for a few years, but it could not be avoided. Otherwise, my sign-up date would be among one of the earliest here.

She did not say she was bailing out. She said she was taking her message of conservative government on the road, not for herself but for other conservative candidates. She also said that fighting bullshit lawsuits was taking too much of her time as governor of Alaska, that she had pasted the agenda she promised Alaska and that Alaska would be better served if she stepped down. All true.

If she says she is going to help the whole country and not just Alaska, she means it. She is not going away, we are going to see allot more of her, and she will not be muzzled by McCain camp. With ZerO destroying the country at light-speed, the ongoing world apology for our audacity to fight for others freedom, and making us all feel like a beaten dogs, her voice and ideas will be a breath of fresh Alaskan air.

I reckon it could go either way. Too early to tell but

What we do not know is what are her exact future plans. Presidential run? Senate? Out of politics completely but still working for America....

Those questions will be answered very soon I’d bet.

Now that she’s a private person who has watched her family attacked viciously and one who has almost been forced into bankruptcy by bogus ethics complaints, if I was the heffer who’se been filing the complaint, I’d watch my back.

They attacked her family, Palin does not strike me as the type of person who would let people do that withough a fight.

As a result we are saddled with greedy shyster lawyers as professional who are emBEDded for life (Kennedy-Frank-Clinton) and are neary impossible to defeat by challengers of either party

Sarah Palin recently had 20,000 excited Americans show up and cheer her in a New York state small town where she appeared to celebrate the brilliant purchase of Alaska from Russia by President Abe Lincoln’s Secretary Seward

Last week Vice President Joe Biden attracted a pre-stacked liberal democrat audience of about 100

Sarah Palin has a higher favorability rating than Barack Hussein Obama Junior
