Proud indeed - totally going against the ‘conventional’ way to do the right thing in the end. Going against what ‘people think’ (naysayers) she should do. She is what America was at one time - God, country and family.

I don’t think Romney’s the only one it opens the door wide for. I don’t dislike Romney, but there are other contenders who are just as viable, Huckabee and Gingrich for example. None of them, including Romney, would thrill me, bit I’m mature and rational enough to accept that no electable POTUS candidate will ever espouse strong views on issues that I think are critically important, mainly unfettered RKBA and massive shrinkage in the size and cost of the federal government, like to about 10% of its current size and budget. I’m just hoping that somebody, ANYBODY, who is significantly to the right of Obama will mount a viable campaign in 2012. Palin was absolutely not viable, so I’m glad she’s out of the picture.

All 4 experts on Fox agreed that she would be running for President in 2012.

Like everyone else, I'm just speculating at this point, but the timing of this announcement makes me think bad news of some sort is involved. What that might be, I have no idea.

But the "Friday afternoon news dump" is an old tradition -- if you have to get unpleasant news out, do it when the fewest people are watching, and when the A-team news commentators are in the Hamptons. Of course, this isn't just any Friday, but possibly the day of least attention to the media of the year -- a three-day weekend in the sleepy summer.

If you're launching a major campaign, this would be the last time you'd pick to do it. If you're letting out bad news, now would be the time. I truly hope I'm wrong. But I don't think I am.

My husband just came over and asked me if I had heard that Palin resigned. I was surprised and asked why. He shrugged his shoulders.

A few minutes later he comes back and says speculation is that she did it to prepare for a 2012 race.

I’m with you. My first comment was that it seemed to me that one would be better to run for president from the perch of the elected office of a governor than being in the position of a losing VP in the presidential race from four years prior.

Also, why announce such a big deal thing on the Friday of one of America’s biggest holidays?

So I put on my tinfoil hat and wonder if there isn’t more to this than meets the eyeball.

I think it’s a bad strategic move. Resigning mid term will unfairly give her a perception of quitter or hiding or avoiding scandal.

Huckabee on Fox now saying that she has been unmercifully attacked in the press and she needs a break. He is saying it is a brutal experience for him too, more brutal thean anything he has ever experienced.

Look. I am trying to keep up with breaking events on a message board that is being very slow today.

It looks like its a done deal. She says “they are under a full court press and that she knows as a point guard when to pass the ball.”

Question is...who’d she pass the ball to?

No need for Alaskans to continue to pay to fight the smear from the national DUmocrats. They are better served by continuing her agenda under the Lt. Governor, and her moving into the national spotlight and take on the RINOs within the McCain campaign who’ve been her biggest detractors.

Andrea Mitchell probably did not hear the speech I heard. Sarah said in effect she would be out in the political would stand with responsible politicians.

Of course he'll say this after the fact. Every single Republican- elected or pundit- should be ashamed that very few ever had the guts to stand up for Sarah. I hope she culls out the RINOs and stumps for real conservatives.

Screw Huck and his RINO family of GOP elites.

Huckabee saying the election is too far away for him to consider running just yet. He is not ruling anything out and his focus now is being in a different role.
