Ted Nugent: Our Founding Fathers would be mortified
The Waco Tribune-Herald ^ | 6/28/09 | Ted Nugent

As the stunned and defeated British army marched out of Yorktown, its band appropriately played “A World Turned Upside Down.”

Our forefathers pledged their lives and fortunes to fight and defeat the world’s mightiest army and give birth to America. Our victory over King George was the greatest military upset in the annals of human history.

George Washington believed our amazing victory was a result of divine providence.

The dream of limited government, personal freedom and liberty, rugged individualism, and self-sufficiency for which our forefathers fought and died is rapidly disappearing in 2009. Once again it is a world turned upside down.

Instead of heeding the warnings of our forefathers, we have embraced big government. Independent? No, over the last half-century we have become more dependent on Fedzilla — the federal beast with a voracious appetite for our tax dollars. We once again are becoming subjects, not citizens.

Big government punishes producers and risk-takers while rewarding simpletons that it has conned into believing it is helping. Fedzilla is the enemy of the free market and freedom.

Instead of allowing the free market to correct itself, big government meddles in it and makes things worse. Exhibits A and B: Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.

Using our tax dollars, Fedzilla has purchased General Motors, and bailed out AIG and other financial institutions.

A trillion-dollar economic stimulus lawmakers approved but did not read may be the ultimate example of grotesque meddling and spending.

Now for the latest initiative “we must solve immediately.” President Obama wants to Fedzillarize health care.

Ailment, not cure

Placing your health in bureaucratic hands is like asking a drunk driver for a ride. Big government will destroy your health. It’s a cancer unto itself.

Higher taxes and more government lead to economic genocide. Alternatively, lower taxes, less government and more independence lead to prosperity for all who are willing to take advantage of it.

Our forefathers who threw tea over the side of the ship in Boston Harbor knew this. The people who’ve attended Tea Parties know it. Do you?

Sometime during your July 4 celebration, you should take a few moments and read the Declaration of Independence aloud to your children, relatives and guests. Read it slowly. Let the words sink in.

Then reflect on our forefathers, they who bravely signed their names to it, thereby signing their own death warrants.

Think about that. They were willing to die for limited federal government, independence, freedom and liberty.

They didn’t fight and die for freedom so that our government could provide its subjects with housing, food, transportation and health care.

To my fellow Americans who still cherish the dream of our founding fathers, I wish you a wonderful and Happy Independence Day. To those of you who are willing to compromise your liberty and freedom in the hopes that big government will provide you an artificial blanket of security, enjoy your Dependence Day.

I’ve been telling my kids since birth that Lincoln was the worst Predident in history. The civil war was the first federal power grab, plain and simple and our country was decimated in the process. How in anyones mind could this man be considered great?

That is the problem with the current movements to protest. We need super wealthy men and women to gamble their fortunes on another revolution. This one though can be won on the internet and through TV shows.

If our founders were still in charge there would quickly be a shortage of tar and feathers

At this point, I’m not sure I care much WHO does something. As long as SOMETHING is done.

Very well. We'll be happy to.

They would take up arms and rebel against Obama, the Mau Mau king, now as they did King George then.....

RKBA is a big ol’ trip-wire. They step on that one, there won’t be elections in 2012. We’ll probably still be in a running fire-fight.

" Well, anything to speak of. But....I think Nugent is revising history.
It was with France’s help that we won our independence."
--HUH??? How the heck did France ever help us with anything during the War for Independence?

"Did Nugent remember that, when France went against Bush in voting for the Iraq War?"
--Yeah. We ALL do. They sniveled and balked at a time when they could have stood-up for what was right. Guess they had too mu$h invested with Saddam that they didn't want to do the right thing. They will never be forgotten for that error in judgement and lack of involvement in the U.S. Coalition.

" And our Statue of Liberty that we’re so proud of: a gift from France".
--It was the best and nicest gift they've ever given US, but it was teamwork between the U.S. and France to get it done. We each paid our portions and we had to build the enormous base.

"The cost of seeing a doctor just for the flu is over $100. I don’t know what can be done. But something must be done."
--I agree. And the answer is in competition within the private sector, but nothing should change with health care for the elderly the way it is now. They've earned that.

There is a thumbnail sketch at wikipedia. Most of this is basic American history.

-- RKBA is a big ol' trip-wire. --

It depends on how hard and fast it's stepped on. The Federal Courts have been upholding unconstitutional law with overt corrupt logic (plain as day, to anyone who looks at the cited cases, Miller and Presser) for upwards of 70 years, and the people are okay with that.

More recently, the United States Supreme Court, in Heller, twisted the Miller case to stand for the opposite of what is says, and the gun-right lobby cheered! Hooray! We win!

If the United States Supreme Court denies cert to the Chicago/NRA and Maloney (nunchucks) cases, we have status quo. And status quo (30+ years guns have been banned in Chicago) hasn't set off any "trip wire."

I’ve often thought that if the founding fathers could have known what the US would become, they wouldn’t have bothered to start the fight.

Couldn't disagree more. I think they would be amazed at how well the little project in self government turned out. I also think given some acclimation time they would point to the problem areas that need correction quite easily.

since the Republicans didn’t seem to think there was a health care problem

that statement belies your misinformartion on this, the GOP has offered alternative health care proposals like tax free healthcare savings accounts and company healthcare pools and whatnot for years but the Dems block it

they want to own healthcare for the power and revenue

Zero and his crew are after the whole enchilada. Nothing but an outright ban on all firearms in civilian possession.

Heck, they try and pass another Brady Bill and we'll start picking off the low hanging fruit.
