Obama, the African Colonial
American Thinker ^ | June 25, 2009 | L.E. Ikenga

Posted on 06/24/2009 10:54:57 PM PDT by neverdem

Had Americans been able to stop obsessing over the color of Barack Obama's skin and instead paid more attention to his cultural identity, maybe he would not be in the White House today. The key to understanding him lies with his identification with his father, and his adoption of a cultural and political mindset rooted in postcolonial Africa.

Like many educated intellectuals in postcolonial Africa, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. was enraged at the transformation of his native land by its colonial conqueror. But instead of embracing the traditional values of his own tribal cultural past, he embraced an imported Western ideology, Marxism. I call such frustrated and angry modern Africans who embrace various foreign "isms", instead of looking homeward for repair of societies that are broken, African Colonials. They are Africans who serve foreign ideas.

The tropes of America's racial history as a way of understanding all things black are useless in understanding the man who got his dreams from his father, a Kenyan exemplar of the African Colonial.

Before I continue, I need to say this: I am a first generation born West African-American woman whose parents emigrated to the U.S. in the 1970's from the country now called Nigeria. I travel to Nigeria frequently. I see myself as both a proud American and as a proud Igbo (the tribe that we come from -- also sometimes spelled Ibo). Politically, I have always been conservative (though it took this past election for me to commit to this once and for all!); my conservative values come from my Igbo heritage and my place of birth. Of course, none of this qualifies me to say what I am about to -- but at the same time it does.

My friends, despite what CNN and the rest are telling you, Barack Obama is nothing more than an old school African Colonial who is on his way to turning this country into one of the developing nations that you learn about on the National Geographic Channel. Many conservative (East, West, South, North) African-Americans like myself -- those of us who know our history -- have seen this movie before. Here are two main reasons why many Americans allowed Obama to slip through the cracks despite all of his glaring inconsistencies:

First, Obama has been living on American soil for most of his adult life. Therefore, he has been able to masquerade as one who understands and believes in American democratic ideals. But he does not. Barack Obama is intrinsically undemocratic and as his presidency plays out, this will become more obvious. Second, and most importantly, too many Americans know very little about Africa. The one-size-fits-all understanding that many Americans (both black and white) continue to have of Africa might end up bringing dire consequences for this country.

Contrary to the way it continues to be portrayed in mainstream Western culture, Africa is not a continent that can be solely defined by AIDS, ethnic rivalries, poverty and safaris. Africa, like any other continent, has an immense history defined by much diversity and complexity. Africa's long-standing relationship with Europe speaks especially to some of these complexities -- particularly the relationship that has existed between the two continents over the past two centuries. Europe's complete colonization of Africa during the nineteenth century, also known as the Scramble for Africa, produced many unfortunate consequences, the African colonial being one of them.

The African colonial (AC) is a person who by means of their birth or lineage has a direct connection with Africa. However, unlike Africans like me, their worldviews have been largely shaped not by the indigenous beliefs of a specific African tribe but by the ideals of the European imperialism that overwhelmed and dominated Africa during the colonial period. AC's have no real regard for their specific African traditions or histories.  AC's use aspects of their African culture as one would use pieces of costume jewelry: things of little or no value that can be thoughtlessly discarded when they become a negative distraction, or used on a whim to decorate oneself in order to seem exotic. (Hint: Obama's Muslim heritage).

On the other hand, AC's strive to be the best at the culture that they inherited from Europe. Throughout the West, they are tops in their professions as lawyers, doctors, engineers, Ivy League professors and business moguls; this is all well and good. It's when they decide to engage us as politicians that things become messy and convoluted.

The African colonial politician (ACP) feigns repulsion towards the hegemonic paradigms of Western civilization. But at the same time, he is completely enamored of the trappings of its aristocracy or elite culture. The ACP blames and caricatures whitey to no end for all that has gone wrong in the world. He convinces the masses that various forms of African socialism are the best way for redressing the problems that European colonialism motivated in Africa. However, as opposed to really being a hard-core African Leftist who actually believes in something, the ACP uses socialist themes as a way to disguise his true ambitions: a complete power grab whereby the "will of the people" becomes completely irrelevant.

Barack Obama is all of the above. The only difference is that he is here playing (colonial) African politics as usual.

In his 1995 memoir, Dreams From My Father -- an eloquent piece of political propaganda -- Obama styles himself as a misunderstood intellectual who is deeply affected by the sufferings of black people, especially in America and Africa. In the book, Obama clearly sees himself as an African, not as a black American. And to prove this, he goes on a quest to understand his Kenyan roots. He is extremely thoughtful of his deceased father's legacy; this provides the main clue for understanding Barack Obama.

Barack Obama Sr. was an African colonial to the core; in his case, the apple did not fall far from the tree. All of the telltale signs of Obama's African colonialist attitudes are on full display in the book -- from his feigned antipathy towards Europeans to his view of African tribal associations as distracting elements that get in the way of "progress".  (On p. 308 of Dreams From My Father, Obama says that African tribes should be viewed as an "ancient loyalties".)

Like imperialists of Old World Europe, the ACP sees their constituents not as free thinking individuals who best know how to go about achieving and creating their own means for success. Instead, the ACP sees his constituents as a flock of ignorant sheep that need to be led -- oftentimes to their own slaughter.

Like the European imperialist who spawned him, the ACP is a destroyer of all forms of democracy.

Here are a few examples of what the British did in order to create (in 1914) what is now called Nigeria and what Obama is doing to you

  1. Convince the people that "clinging" to any aspect of their cultural (tribal) identity or history is bad and regresses the process of "unity". British Imperialists deeply feared people who were loyal to anything other than the state. "Tribalism" made the imperialists have to work harder to get people to just fall in line. Imperialists pitted tribes against each other in order to create chaos that they then blamed on ethnic rivalry. Today many "educated" Nigerians, having believed that their traditions were irrelevant, remain completely ignorant of their ancestry and the history of their own tribes.
  2. Confiscate the wealth and resources of the area that you govern by any means necessary in order to redistribute wealth. The British used this tactic to present themselves as empathetic and benevolent leaders who wanted everyone to have a "fair shake". Imperialists are not interested in equality for all. They are interested in controlling all.
  3. Convince the masses that your upper-crust university education naturally puts you on an intellectual plane from which to understand everything even when you understand nothing. Imperialists were able to convince the people that their elite university educations allowed them to understand what Africa needed. Many of today's Nigerians-having followed that lead-hold all sorts of degrees and certificates-but what good are they if you can't find a job?
  4. Lie to the people and tell them that progress is being made even though things are clearly becoming worse.  One thing that the British forgot to mention to their Nigerian constituents was that one day, the resources that were being used to engineer "progress" (which the British had confiscated from the Africans to begin with!) would eventually run out. After WWII, Western Europe could no longer afford to hold on to their African colonies. So all of the counterfeit countries that the Europeans created were then left high-and-dry to fend for themselves. This was the main reason behind the African independence movements of the1950 and 60's. What will a post-Obama America look like?
  5. Use every available media outlet to perpetuate the belief that you and your followers are the enlightened ones-and that those who refuse to support you are just barbaric, uncivilized, ignorant curmudgeons.  This speaks for itself.

America, don't be fooled. The Igbos were once made up of a confederacy of clans that ascribed to various forms of democratic government. They took their eyes off the ball and before they knew it, the British were upon them. Also, understand this: the African colonial who is given too much political power can only become one thing: a despot.

"...Kenya on Monday shrugged off threats by the radical Somali Islamic group, Al-Shabaab, that it would launch incursions into North Eastern province. North Eastern Provincial Commissioner Kimeu Maingi is quoted saying the Somali militia and Al-Qaeda had threatened to invade Kenya and introduce Sharia Law. Now the Kenyan Government has dared Al-Shaab militiamen to seize any part of Kenya and face military action.

“Kenya is a sovereign country. We have the capacity and the ability to stave off any incursions,” Foreign Affairs assistant minister Richard Onyonka said on Monday. He was responding to reports that the insurgents were planning to take over North Eastern Province and subject it to the rule of Sharia law. Mr Onyonka said the government would do anything to protect its territory.

North Eastern Provincial Commissioner Kimeu Maingi at the weekend was quoted as saying the Al-Shabaab, a militia group linked to al-Qaeda, had officially communicated to the government, warning “they would stop at nothing, including armed conflict, to invade the province and make it part of their country and rule it using their religious laws”.

Speaking on the sidelines of a Somalia conference in Nairobi exploring the country’s civil service training opportunities, Mr Onyonka said such threats would not deter Kenya from ensuring that the Somali Transitional Federal Government (TFG) is successful in achieving its agenda. Mr Maingi had said the abduction of several Kenyans at the border town of Mandera last month was part of Al-Shabaab’s wider scheme to aggress Kenya...

How in the world did he go straight from Maseno in 1953 to the US in 1959? Or is it just saying that he had no other education in the 6 year interval?

Excellent question, I have been asking that of myself. He was say, 17 or 18 when he left Maseno school. I have read (cannot find the link at present) where obama sr said that he worked and saved money for his education...

Then, on the other hand, he supposedly married and had a child. OK. So he was approx 18, he worked and saved money, he married...

Look at the educational subjects the teacher reads from the card. Would that provide him with enough background to go to a University?

To my mind, it doesn’t add up.

Remember, Oginga Odinga was a teacher at that same school. He sent his sons out of the country to be educated, one to East Germany and the other to the USSR.

So it’s not beyond the realm of impossible that the teacher was right. Obama sr may have gone to the US for his education when he left Maseno in 1953.

It’s possible because he was NOT on the FIRST airlift, which arrived in the US several months AFTER Obama sr arrived in Hawaii.

WOW, Good Work there Fred.

Obama is indeed a post colonial, in cultural terms. He has a persecution complex, typical of Narcist Personality Disorder.

Politically , on the international scene, he is a neo colonial, that is he wants Chicago Black Power to be substituted for present post colonial politics in Africa, by imposition. He sees that as a personal calling.Obama is the new Raj of Africa, and he and his ideas are just as inappropriate as other colonial political ideas became in the modern era. Notice how those neo colonial Chicago Black Power ideas brought about tribal warfare in Kenya, in November of 2007, for example.Obama has no respect for inidiginous, self evolved tribal African government. He wants all of Africa to become a political clone of Chicago’s East Side.

Yet Obama will not use his own logic on himself. His undoing , I hope and pray. For Africa will eventually turn on him, as just another idjit with colonizing aspirations , there isn’t much difference between a white colonial raj and a black one. But many seem to think so these days.

Well Fred, you indeed did haul out that one from the archives!

An update.

The Orange party ran rampant in Kenya in November/December of2007.Genocide occurred.Odinga is now in a power sharing agreement with the Kenyan Government.

The Kenyan Government ordered a shipload of tanks from Russia, in order to arm the Kenyan Military with equipment that would be effective against Orange Party genocidal Muslim mobs in the future.

AHA! But the plot thickens. The Somali pirates, which have a large component of Luo tribesmen ( same tribe as Obama's father and as Odinga)intercepted the Russian Vessel and captured it months ago, still hold the vessel and its crewmen hostage. The USA seems overly satisfied with this outcome. Where did the pirates get the intel to intercept the Russian ship? How many in the CIA were going to talk until Obama read them the riot act with " I may prosecute CIA officers for torture." etc.

Kenya's military needs those tanks to put Orange Party violence in its place in the future. The US is on back channel diplomacy, preventing Kenya's military from getting them. The Russians are livid with Obama, who is carving out his sphere of influence on the West Coast of Africa with UnAmerican policies, interfering with the self defence of a Sovereign Nation, Kenya, in ordr to allow further intertribal violence in Kenya so Odinga will eventually succeed. I believe the CIA is actively involved with this illegal work, which is in the tradition of high order neo colonialism. And it may be Obama's undoing.

And no one is talking about it.

This should give you some further food for thought.

...found that the elder Obama came in 1959 with support from the aasf but appears to have been routed a different way as he made his way to the University of Hawaii.

Maybe I'm confused, but I didn't think he was sponsored by the aasf although BO tried to pass him off that way. I thought he arrived in Hawaii later. But (just remembered) isn't there a picture of Obama, Sr. and Stanley (the dad)?

Like I said, confusion is a perpetual state of my life these days.

He arrived earlier...he was already in Hawaii for several months when the first airlift landed on the mainland.

In 'Dreams' I believe it is maintained obama sr was part of that first airlift, but records show he wasn't.

Whether the aasf contributed appears to be still open to debate. The two reports in my previous comments would appear to be contradictory:

ONE - #113:Barack Obama wrote that his father “had been selected by Kenyan leaders and American sponsors to attend a university in the United States,” but a list of the students who landed in New York on September 9, 1959, does not contain the name of the elder Obama. Tom Shachtman, working in the African-American Students Foundation (aasf) papers for a book on the airlifts, has found that the elder Obama came in 1959 with support from the aasf but appears to have been routed a different way as he made his way to the University of Hawaii.

TWO -#113:"...Elizabeth Mooney Kirk, an international literacy pioneer, was named in Barack Obama's book, Dreams from My Father, as a key supporter of his father's dream to come to the U.S. She helped to line up scholarships, including the one awarded by the Laubach Literacy Fund..." Barack Sr. was being paid by a key member of the Laubach Literacy Institute (LLI). The LLI had links to the Nation of Islam and embraced a Pan-African styled philosophy. Pan-Africanism is a sociopolitical world view, and philosophy, as well as a movement, which seeks to unify both native Africans and those of the African descent, as part of a "global African community”. This separatist style philosophy was embraced by Malcolm X and the NOI and is still being preached at Trinity Church in Chicago famously by former leader Rev. Wright (Obama Jr’s pastor for 20 years). LLI’s even more ambitious goal was to make the concept of sovereign nations with borders obsolete. This would be done through “peaceful social change” as stated on their website.

----

The image to which you refer is back aways on this thread, it was undated, but it would appear to be taken on arrival in Hawaii and Stanley Armour is clearly there.

Thanks, Fred Nerks.

It’s sometimes hard to get the facts straight when the ‘story’ is so twisted.

I’ve seen that picture before (on another thread?) and wondered at the time if Stanley (dad) knew Obama, Sr. before Stanley Ann because it appears to have been taken at Sr.’s arrival in Hawaii.

Appreciate your help.

...It’s sometimes hard to get the facts straight when the ‘story’ is so twisted...

It sure is! And it gets worse. Need some help from some sharp eyes:

Education and fatherhood

From 1950 to 1953, he studied at Maseno National School, an exclusive Christian boarding school in Maseno that is run by the Anglican Church of Kenya. (Dreams from my Father, 2004 edition, p. 418).

The head teacher, B.L. Bowers, described Obama Sr. in his records as "very keen, steady, trustworthy and friendly. Concentrates, reliable and out-going."

(So far so good, confirmed by the teacher)

Obama Sr. received a scholarship in economics through a program organized by nationalist leader Tom Mboya.

(Maybe.)

President Obama said of his father's scholarship, "The Kennedys decided: 'We're going to do an airlift. We're going to go to Africa and start bringing young Africans over to this country and give them scholarships to study so they can learn what a wonderful country America is. This young man named Barack Obama [Sr.] got one of those tickets and came over to this country.'"

(A Kennedy fund contributed toward the cost of airfares, but it didn't apply to Obama Sr.)

An article by Michael Dobbs in The Washington Post, however, states that the Kennedy family did not become associated with the educational airlift until 1960, a year after Obama Sr. was studying in the United States.

(That is correct as far as I can tell.)

Initial financial supporters of the program included Harry Belafonte, Sidney Poitier, Jackie Robinson, and Elizabeth Mooney Kirk, a literacy advocate who provided most of the financial support for Obama Sr.'s early years in the United States, according to the Tom Mboya archives at Stanford University. [14]

(I am beginning to see where Elizabeth Mooney Kirk's connection to the NOI may come into it...maybe through Sidney Poitier, Jackie Robinson and Harry Belafonte.)

At the age of 23, Obama Sr. enrolled at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, leaving behind a pregnant Kezia and their infant son.

LINK --------------------------

I think the Maseno school teacher may have been telling the truth when he said that Obama Sr went to the US after leaving Maseno school - because:

Obama Sr was married in 1954 at the age of eighteen, in a tribal ceremony to Kezia Aoko.

He had one child, a son, and Kezia was pregnant when Obama Sr left Kenya. Obama Sr was born in 1936. Left the school in 1953 at the age of 17, Married in 1954 at the age of 18. Arrived in Hawaii in 1959, aged approx 23...where was he during the intervening four or five years? I wonder...

Belafonte's political beliefs are greatly inspired by the man that he still views to this day as his mentor, singer and activist Paul Robeson. Paul Robeson was in his time a controversial figure for strongly supporting the Soviet Union throughout the Cold War. After living as a second-class citizen under Jim Crow laws in the United States, and spending some time in the Soviet Union, Robeson felt strongly that racial prejudice was being eradicated in the Soviet Union. He strongly opposed racial prejudice in the United States, and western colonialism in Africa.

Was her enrollment in Hawaii nothing but an anticipation by her parents, that never eventuated?

Nope. The U-Washington transcript recently released via WorldNetDaily.com reflects that she had credit hours transferred for two classes she took at U-Hawaii in Fall 1960. So it did indeed eventuate.

The address shown in the Polk Directory 1961/62 where she supposedly lived with her young son, is recorded as having been strictly segregated. . . She was enrolled as Stanley Ann Dunham. Why use a different name for an address? Unless...she didn't want to be found.

If it was a segregated (cite?), it was segregated for Asians, as evidenced by the Asian neighbor babysitter. So, the Asian-sounding name "Obama" would have been a good name to use to secure a lease there.

Thanks. Now the question in relation to the Seattle records remains - why did the letter of confirmation refer to Stanley Ann Dunham and not Stanley Ann Dunham Obama as on the WND document:

Ms. Stanley Ann Dunham was enrolled at the University of Washington for:
Autumn 1961
Winter 1962
Spring 1962

The records responsive to your request from the University of Washington are above as provided by the Public Disclosure Laws of Washington State. This concludes the University’s response to your Public Records request. Please feel free to contact our office if you have any questions or concerns.

In the lower right you can see the dates that they sent copies of the transcript to U Hawaii in the 70s. She was divorced from Obama by that point, so maybe they updated their records to reflect the name change (but then, why no Soetoro?). Or maybe that’s just how the registrar decided to write her name in the letter he sent to the person who made the FOIOA request.

Regarding extension & correspondence, you’ll see the courses listed there are “X” not “C” courses, i.e. extension not correspondence. That implies she had some level of interaction on campus to take those courses and they weren’t entirely done via the mail.

FOR THE RECORD:

http://depts.washington.edu/civilr/segregated.htm

For most of its history Seattle was a segregated city, as committed to white supremacy as any location in America. People of color were excluded from most jobs, most neighborhoods and schools, and many stores, restaurants, hotels, and other commercial establishments, even hospitals. As in other western states, the system of severe racial discrimination in Seattle targeted not just African Americans but also Native Americans, Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, people of Mexican ancestry, and also, at times, Jews.

This special section presents research that will surprise many Pacific Northwesterners. Included are maps, photos, documents, and newspaper articles that follow the history of segregation in Seattle up through the 1960s. We also have the most extensive database of racially restrictive neighborhood covenants and deed clauses available for any city in the country...

AIRLIFT TO AMERICA is the never-before-told and quite heroic story of the 1959-1963 airlifts from East Africa that helped Barack Obama, Sr., father of the president-elect, and Wangari Maathai, future winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, among hundreds of others, to study at American and Canadian colleges and universities. The airlifts and their graduates changed not only the future course of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and other nations of East Africa, but also the course of U.S. race relations. Jack Kennedy's donation to enable the 1960 airlift became an important issue in that year's American presidential election, and was a factor in swinging enough African-American votes into his column to give him the victory.
