This is WAY closer than it should be. Poll is under video.

How about ‘who cares?’ Letterman did it for one reason - he’s hearing from advertisers. Palin issued a statement saying she accepted it, and if she’s satisfied then that’s the only one who matters.
To: AZ .44 MAG
I might have accepted it under normal circumstances, but because it took so long and it obviously only came after CBS put the screws to him....
Nope.

This is stupid. The guy apologized. What are you going to do, NOT accept? Should he have done this, that, and the other? Okay, sure. The guy made an apology, accept it as genuine and move on.

Media Schadenfreude and Media Shenanigans PING
THERE ARE ONLY 4 PEOPLE WHO CAN ACCEPT THE APOLOGY.
Mr. & Mrs. Palin and their 2 daughters.
No one can accept an apology on their behalf.
Sarah Palin did not accept David Letterman's first apology.
Consensus doesn't cut it.

The guy made two apologies because he guffawed his way in the middle of his first non-apology.
Saying he meant to impune the character of the OTHER daughter doesn’t cut it.
Then again, David Letterman is an admitted ex-alcoholic and an acknowleged a**hole.

Dumb poll. This matter is between Letterman and Palin; she’s the only one who can accept or reject his apology.

It's not up to us to accept or reject the apology. That decision rests with Governor Palin.
The rest of use should, perhaps, get our own lives.
To: AZ .44 MAG
A “fair and balanced” poll would include “there was nothing to apologize for”.

Yep. It doesn't matter what motivated him, it was the first genuine apology I have heard from a Liberal...ever.
He took full responsibility for his words and how they were perceived by Sarah, her family, and the public. When's the last time you ever heard a Liberal say anything beyond I'm sorry that you were offended by what I said?
I don't like the man, never watch the man, but I do respect that he actually said "it's not your fault, it's mine."
Apparently public pressure can still work on some people...especially if their job is at risk.

This is stupid. The guy apologized. What are you going to do, NOT accept? Should he have done this, that, and the other? Okay, sure. The guy made an apology, accept it as genuine and move on.Here's the problem with that: When conservatives or others make un-PC comments, they are hounded forever (remember Jimmy Breslin?). No apology is sufficient, no act of contrition will do. Those people are destroyed. It's the left's own proscription. Apply it to Letterman. He needs to fade into obscurity. "It's only fair".

I want to say no, but the freepers on this thread are right. It's only up to the Palin family to except it.
My personal feelings are Mr. Letterman has not one ounce of genuine sorrow for anything he said and he is loving the attention that he is getting right now.

A fair and balanced poll would include there was nothing to apologize for.
A fair and balanced poll would have included - non-apology explanation of public misunderstanding of "flawed" joke is one week too late to be sincere.
