MIAMI (AP) -- A teenager was arrested early Sunday and accused of committing a string of gruesome cat mutilation deaths that had horrified residents of his Miami area community, authorities said.
.... Some of the dead cats were missing fur and appeared to have been cut with a sharp, straight instrument, police said.
.... Tyler Weinman, 18, was taken into custody early Sunday at a party, police said. Weinman was charged with 19 counts of animal cruelty, 19 counts of improperly disposing of an animal body and four counts of burglary.

How do you know there isn’t a dad? Jeffrey Dahmer had a dad, therefore, people with dad’s are likely to become serial killers...similar to your logic.
Per that NY Daily News, that IS his mugshot. Anybody who would put on that sort of expression for a mugshot, right after being arrested on charges of mutilating and killing 19 of his neighbors’ pet cats is a dangerous psychopath. Even if you were totally innocent of such charges, would you put on a smirk like that for your mugshot, if you’d just been arrested/charged for what he’s been arrested/charged for?

Totally different. Little boys burn ants with magnifying glasses because they’re fascinated by how the sun and magnifying glass work. The ant doesn’t show any signs/sounds of pain comparable to a human or other sentient creature, and no humans are emotionally devastated by the “murder” of the ant. It’s not something I’d encourage a kid to do, but it’s definitely not a sign of any psychological problems.
I’m also a realist, even though I’m an optimistic one. The problem is, with serial killers-to-be and child molesters, prison is going to do nothing but make them more clever and dangerous.
There is no “cure” for either, and most will say that if they are set free, they will do it again.
This country has to wise up to that and quit listening to the bleeding hearts.

For human sexuality to be complete, there must be a confluence, a coming together, of the affectionate and physical components of the sexual instinct. When the affectionate needs are weakened and physical sex is all that remains, sex becomes meaningless and life becomes empty.
Sex education programs from kindergarten through high school continuously downgrade the intimate, affectionate, monogamous nature of human sexuality. Whether the sex educators purposefully intend to do so or not, their sex teachings act, nevertheless, to desensitize students to the spiritual quality of human sexuality.

Children should not be encouraged to linger in these early stages of childhood sexual development.
If misguided adults, sex educators or child molesters cause the child to linger in these early sensual stages, an arrest in further sexual growth may occur.
Such an arrest in sexual development, indeed, may happen as a result of the sex teachings given to 3- to 5-year-old children. Sex education given to these kindergarten students consists of repeated demonstrations of nudity, genital anatomy and of showing how humans, as well as animals, mate.
The 3- to 5-year-old has absolutely no need for such sex teachings. The instructions have no beneficial value and can only serve to disrupt the child's further sexual maturation.

In truth, the personality traits that they applaud are the early characteristics of the psychopath--that is, an individual who has no concern for anyone but himself or others in so far as they can serve some purpose for him.
The sex educators' teachings, along with the behavior portrayed by the heroes and heroines in today's movies, have made indelible impressions--scars--on the minds of young people. Gutter sex from these sources shape the character and sexual behavior of many youths.
From these sources youths are taught to remove controls over base aggressive and sexual instincts and to live by instinctual behavior only--these are the characteristics of barbarians.
Dad is a dentist, and lives 1.75 miles away from mom. Apparently the young psychopath split his time between the two homes, mutilating and killing other familys’ pets as he travelled back and forth.

What's really bad is that he would get more time for killing an animal than if he killed a person, or knocked up his girlfriend and she had an abortion.

Sociopaths and psychopaths are frequently able to hide their behaviors extremely well and those deviant behaviors will surface no matter what their environment. They often hide so well that even the family members are totally unaware of the condition.
If this little SOB was truly able to hide this behavior from his family and friends, then his mother is probably completely devastated right now and I, for one, will not stoop to condemning her until I know she was involved.
She deserves our sympathy until we learn that she deserves our scorn.
