David Letterman is scornful of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, which is certainly his right. That he continues to use the bully pulpit of his late-night talk show to crack wise about the former vice presidential contender is acceptable also, if not exactly cutting edge comedy.
Clearly a public figure, Palin is fair game.
But Letterman went beyond the pale with his recent jokes about Palins daughter being knocked up by a New York Yankee player while attending a recent game.
Letterman claimed to be referring to Palins 18-year-old daughter, Bristol, who had a child out of wedlock. However, Bristol wasnt at the ballpark that day. Her 14-year-old daughter was. Logically, that makes her the focus of the wisecrack, which would be truly disturbing.
Either way, Lettermans attempt at humor strikes us as unnecessarily and unacceptably nasty. Neither of the Palin daughters were fit targets for that kind of material.
So, what now?
Wed like to see the matter dealt with the old Scots-Irish way.
With Fathers Day coming up next Sunday, how about the two dads, Letterman and Todd Palin, having a private, man-to-man meeting in some quiet, out-of-the-way place to discuss the matter. Todd strikes us as the kind of dad who would cut to the point quickly, not wasting much of Lettermans valuable time.
The men would meet, make their points and then Lettermans assistants could pick him up and carry him back to the limo.
Matter closed.
The Daily Citizen
It makes you realize how many pervs have all these ideas in their heads, and they just wait until the object of their thoughts is "of age" before letting them out.
I think this thing is being way overplayed, but Letterman's "explanation" is Woody Allen-level retarded.
SOmeone suggested the other evening that Todd should invite Dave up to go bear hunting, along with VPDC.
Letterman, who ended up marrying a butt ugly woman that he knocked up, shouldn’t throw stones in a Glass House...
First dude would clean Daves clock just by being in the same room. The intimidation factor would be overwhelming. IMHO ;-)
Todd really doesn’t have this option, because he’s young and strong and Dirty Old Letterman is a feeble relic. One punch from Todd, and Letterman’s bones would turn to dust. An honorable guy can’t beat up someone sick and elderly,
Letterman is too much of a coward. Makes filthy jokes about women and young girls, then cries about it when called.
After a good punch, the gap in Dave’s teeth would be a little wider.
Dave would be advised to wear Depends adult diapers to avoid soiling his expensive, tailored pants when he gets his first idea of what Todd is about to impose on his worthless butt.
May I ask you men, one more time, what the looks of David Letterman’s wife has ANYTHING FREAKING THING TO DO WITH ANYTHING. I’d like to see pictures of all your wives.
Works for me.
It was a botched joke. Where have I heard that before?
When it involves your wife yes he can. Dave should have taken this into account when he decided to preach his sermon, so to speak. There are men in this world and then there is Dave.
That’s the way two men would settle it but Todd Palin is the only man between the two of them.
If we’re lucky, by the time Todd’s finished making his points, even Shaffer could carry him to the limo. Or at least what’s left of him.
Letterman’s a sock puppet for his chief writer a nasty Manhattan West Side Left-winger (remember Bella Abzug?) who’s trained the old man to deliver non-jokes that malign Republicans.
Goofy Letterman thinks if the studio audience laughs well then it must be funny.
CBS should dump the old man and promote Craig Ferguson.
It actually could explain a lot. . .
Sarah would clean his clock too.
Letterman should look up the legal term "fighting words".
One half hour with Todd would certainly cure him for good of the disposition to joke about statutory rape of Palin's children.
This isn’t really about Willow.
It’s about Letterman’s contempt for and disrespect of conservatives and Palin.
And it is for disrespect and contempt that Letterman must be taken down many, many notches.
If he insulted my family like he did the Palins all his teeth would be gone.
