You’re probably right, still, think back to Nicaragua when Ortega lost power. He was so confident he’d win that he allowed the election. Maybe Nutjob just got pitched out legitimately. Not that I’d expect too much of a change from this next guy, but you never know. Maybe he’ll focus on internal problems and stop screwing around in Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank as much.

the ayatollahs are still in charge. Good, they're conservatives. They don't like socialism, communism, homosexualism, feminism, and most other isms. They don't invade countries. They view modern Western culture as decadent and a corrupting influence on children, and so do we. They're immensely popular politicians among the voters. How do they do it?

Prepare for a tsunami of “OBAMA DID IT!!!” orgasms in the Western media, even though the nutbag was deeply unpopular for years since he stole the 1995 election with 4 million fraudulent votes.

The “Green Revolution” in Iran started long before Obama speech about how we in the west must respect the burka. In fact, it's the exact opposite of what Obama proposed.

Iranian Government 101
Assembly of Experts (AE) This is a group of 86 clerics. Only clerics may sit on the AE. AE members are elected by the Iranian people. A cleric may only run for AE if he has been approved by the Guardian Council.
AE appoints the Rahbar and has the authority to dismiss the Rahbar. Only AE or a special committee appointed by Rahbar has authority to amend the constitution.
Rahbar or Velayat-e Faqih (VF) Supreme Leader. VF appoints 6 clerics to Guardian Council. VF appoints head of Judiciary and director of Radio & Television Organization. VF appoints top commanders of all armed and security forces. VF is Commander in Chief of all armed and security forces. VF may dismiss President or dissolve Majlis.
VF decides overall policies of Iran and may declare war and peace. Only VF may order a referendum. VF may create laws and veto Majlis legislation by decree (fatwa).
Guardian Council (GC) 12 members. 6 clerics appointed by VF. 6 jurists elected by the Majlis.
No Majlis legislation can become law unless GC ratifies it. GC may veto any Majlis legislation.
No candidate may run for President, Majlis or AE without GC approval.
President Elected by the Iranian people. Only GC-approved candidates may run for President.
President names Cabinet ministers who Majlis must approve. President administers Iran's budget and development plans (formerly a separate ministry) and the Civil Service. He signs laws passed by the Majlis and treaties ratified by the Majlis.
Majlis (Parliament) Elected by the Iranian people. Only GC-approved candidates may run for Majlis.
The function of the Majlis is to create legislation. No Majlis legislation can become law unless GC ratifies it.
Expediency Council (EC) VF appoints 27 people to EC. If Majlis and GC become deadlocked on a proposed bill, EC rewrites the bill to suit the clerics.

These are bogus projections.
The voting only stopped two hours ago.
Any results that have been released are for Tehran only, and Nutjobs biggest support is in rural areas.
My understanding is that official results will only be available late this evening.

10-1 the mullahs rigged it this way, after a back-channel suggestion from Zero’s PR flacks that this would help Zero and that in turn would help the mullahs because Zero will turn a blind eye to their bomb and act surprised when they nuke Israel but won’t do anything about it (except to say in a roundabout way that they deserved it—and when anyone criticizes him for being anti-semitic for saying that, he’ll respond—you are racist for saying I’m anti-semitic).

It always helps when your strong areas are the last to be counted. Just ask Lyndon Johnson or Al Franken.
