Miss. governor warns that carbon and energy taxes could stifle growth in South and elsewhere

BILOXI, Miss. — The price of electricity and fuel could rise sharply and economic growth could be stifled in the Southeast and elsewhere in the U.S. under tax proposals now pending in Washington, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour said Monday.

At the opening of an energy conference sponsored by the Southern Growth Policies Board, the second-term Republican said cap-and-trade proposals on carbon emissions being pushed by President Barack Obama's administration would drive up the average Mississippi residential power bill by as much as 50 percent.

Barbour also said proposed federal taxes on energy production would drive up the cost of gasoline, diesel fuel and natural gas, not only on consumers, but on industry.

"These policies have in common that they would all inevitably and substantially increase the cost of energy to American families and American businesses, especially manufacturing," Barbour said.

Industries facing such costs might move overseas into nations with less stringent standards, resulting in little progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, Barbour said.

Yep! Stick it to the red states. That's the whole point.

Look what Obama did to the GM dealerships.

Some districts in Philadelphia have had 110% turn out.

Honestly, after ACORN is done with the census and spending its billions in government dollars, conservatives will never again win an election. Count on it.

They just HAVE to crush economies, to their benefit?

“stifle growth in South and elsewhere”

“That’s the whole point.”

Absolutely, here is why. He knows that the only part of the U.S. that he and his thugs have not already destroyed are the Oil producing states. He wants to tax us to pay for the enormous unemployment that his voting base faces.

Want to see it graphically? Look at this map.

Interactive map:

Job Loss/Gain 2007-2009 by county-

http://www.slate.com/id/2216238/

Step through the map month by month and look at where the job losses are the greatest, and where they are still gaining employment.

A picture is sometimes worth a thousand words.

I can hear the Whistle blowing for the Trainwreck that is going to hit the NE, East, Great Lakes, and Southern Cal. in 6-9 months when the unemployment benefits begin to run out. Not going to be pretty.

The problem will not come from the heartland, but from the cities. In the heart of Obozo country.

Wasn’t it high tariffs ( especially hurting the South) to fund Northern infrastructure projects that sparked the war between the states?

Perhaps if we sent about 20 million of our “guests” home some jobs would free up.

We would not want things to "get out of hand" in D.C. would we.

And the dumbass Dems who own Oregon lock, stock, and barrel are rolling out our own little version of Cap ‘n Tax right now. Along with a bunch of other tax increases, including increasing the income tax on those who make over $25000, a gas tax increase, a health care tax, jacked up auto registration fees, across the board increases on business filing fees with the SoS (massive increases), a “mass transit” tax, as well as limiting the amount of federal tax liability we can deduct for state taxes. And there’s nothing to stop any of this, since the Oregon GOP is a bunch of limpwristed, ineffectual Me Too Republicans.

We don’t even have a state income tax here in Texas. BTW, we can always use more conservatives...

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1656880303867390173

The two hour video referenced above gives us a way to combate der Fuhrer 0bama.

The 16th Amendment pertains to CORPORATIONS paying taxes, NOT to Private Citizens. Apparently, Many of 0bama’s appointees were well familiar with the law . . . and WE WERE NOT. We were horrified that Geithner didn’t pay taxes. Well, HE KNEW THE CONSTITUTION better than you or I.

If a Million or Two of us would march right into the IRS offices in Washington, DC, and proclaim our FREEDOM and our Constitutional Right NOT TO PAY TAXES . . . we’d hit the Executive and Legislative branch right in the old pocket book. Yeouch!

Watch the video. You’ll be awakened. And angry. We’ve been lied to by Government since 1913. You can thank the Progressives for the lies. But where were OUR Senators and Representatives who are supposed to protect us?

OH, I know. Read Article 1, Section 3 of the Constitution. We need to demand that the 17 Amendment (another Progressive idea) be repealed and that Senators be chosen the way the Founding Fathers envisioned. That would put a lot of lobbyists out of work. But they can thank us later.

We’ve been played since 1913 and the music stops NOW.

Any of the northeastern elites. You know, the Ivy League types that are so sure THEY are morally superior.

Your list does include one, Bill Clinton, the others are sell outs, to the liberal elites. I am sure you are aware that your list is of southern governors and a southerner who perfected the politics of personal destruction.
