If I recall correctly, wasn’t she was a physician?
Yeah, it's a head shaker... Like Nelson Rockefeller.
More people die this way than is made public, I'm sure. There's no covering up for celebrities, though, the way cops and families can keep similar deaths of private citizens... private.
Don’t think so ~ not the lady I met. She was the mother of two boys, I believe.
Her first son, Bruce, was an actor in local theater when we lived in northern CA.
I think John Carradine’s mother was a surgeon.
So, he came & went at the same time?
I was at Enrico's one night with my parents and the gentleman I was dating at the time. Enrico greeted us as usual and then sat down at the next table to play Solitaire & grab a bite for himself. We were otherwise alone inside the restaurant as all the other customers were seated outside on the patio.
And in walks David Carradine. He was lively, vivacious, not the least bit drunk or drugged. David greeted Enrico and then he proceeded to talk pretty loudly right next to us -- we couldn't have had a conversation with each other that wouldn't have competed with his. I wouldn't have thought a second thing about it except that David didn't seem to be able to put together even a single sentence without the "F' word. "Hi Enrico, how the f are you? Where the f have you been? I haven't seen you in such a f-ing long time! F being busy. MotherF ....." It surprised even me who got over hearing rough language a long time ago. My mother was completely shocked, not just at the language, but that he would use it so loudly without any respect for our presence. After that, whenever she saw him on TV, she'd switch the channel -- she literally couldn't stand looking at him. (Not sure whose behavior I found more odd, his or my mother's afterward.)
Still, sad to see him go. RIP!
The Carradine you describe at the restaurant sounds like he was full of himself - rude obnoxious—all the things I associate with Hollywood-—or more likely a man with a terrible case of an inferiority complex.
Barbara Hershey “Seagull” also refused to put diapers on their baby. This became a huge problem on set as the kid was urinating and defecating all over the place and this bothered cast and crew. Both David and she were strange ones.
Authorities also called the death of screenwriter/director Adrienne Shelly suicide when she was found hanging in her New York apartment. Turned out an illegal immigrant working in her building murdered her.
The 60's and early 70's were weird in Hollywood. I remember when I was little and we lived in Malibu, Peter Fonda and his family refused to wear clothes. They drove all around PCH in an old pick-up, completely naked.
