I think the language on that report was misleading. I read that to mean that people waiting on passengers on that plane were sending messages to the passengers, not the other way.

Looking up sources for the original article, it is now being denied. And there was much discussion on here about the ability to send messages via conventional cell phones.

Just the fact that sinister people are out there trying to do similar things every day, and we’re not aware of it at all.

And we never will be. I no longer trust the Keystone Cops to protect us. And that too, is part of the plan: no trust in anyone to protect you except Dear Leader.

I saw those discussions: the passengers had sattelite phones, not normal cel phones. A lot of international travelers have them, apparently; business connections for frequent overseas corporate types.

Investigators have few clues to help explain what brought the Airbus A330 down. The crew made no distress call before the crash, but the plane's system sent an automatic message just before it disappeared, reporting lost cabin pressure and electrical failure.

The automatic message and no mayday certainly sounds like a sudden, catastrophic event, i.e., an explosion of some sort that took out the electrical syatem and sent the plane plummeting.

If there was a mid-air collision, certainly the families of the passengers on the other plane may have made some phone calls to find out why it hasn't arrived yet.

In short, not likely.

It may have been terrorism, but I don't think it's likely for a few reasons. For one, nobody claimed credit, which makes for pointless terrorism. Two, it blew up over the ocean, where no television crews could film it and there was no collatoral damage of the wreckage slamming into a city. Again, not very terroristy.

Credit - no one actually took credit for 9/11 either until Osama brought it up in an informal conversation that was broadcast on al Jazeera.

Also, Pan Am 103 was planned to explode over the ocean, and Ramzi Yusef's plot to hijack ten jumbo jets in Asia involved blowing them up over the ocean.

I may be mistaken, but I think part of the motive is to make it difficult/impossible to recover remains for proper burial... pretty diabolical stuff.

The press would do it’s darndest to prove this wasn’t terrorism on their heroes watch.

The commuter plane in Buffalo didn’t have a mayday call.

When planes are in trouble, sending out maydays are the last thing the pilot is worried about. They are panicking trying to save the plane.

The Buffalo commuter plane was only flying at 1600 feet when the situation occurred. A nose dive from that altitude doesn't leave much time for anything. This plane was likely well over 30,000 feet, and if it were nothing short of catastrophic, it would have been a ditch scenario - in which case the pilot/copilot would have certainly sent a mayday.

Terrorism on the watch of medias object of affection? Attacks against President saviour when he’s told world how sorry he is? The press would cover it up.

I understand where you’re coming from...but they are ultimately about creating hysteria and news whenever they can. They’ll report it but blame Republicans and Bush for the whole thing.

Not when it’s terrorism. Flight 800 was on Clinton’s watch and eyewitnesses were discredited and tapes that were proof disappeared. Even after being aired. Nah. They’ll protect President wonderful’s reputation and image. Because the world loves him. They said so.

If it was a bomb, some group would have already claimed responsibility for it by now...

Not if they had more plans in the works and didn't want their "work" interrupted.

That's exactly right. If it's in their interest to claim responsibility, they will. If it's not, they won't. Simple as that.

This notion that they "always claim responsibility" is absurd on its face. Who would know if they didn't? It's impossible to know if they've claimed responsibility for every disaster they've ever caused. It amazes me that people continuously make this laughable claim.

Aside from all that, there have been other crashes where no immediate claim was made, but images from those crashes were later used in jihadi recruiting videos (AA 587 over Queens, 11/2001). Also, there was a claim of responsibility for TWA 800 (and an advance warning) that the media just didn't report until well after the fact. To this day, people still say TWA800 wasn't terrorism because the terrorists didn't claim it... a flat out lie.

where did you see this?

I heard a report on ABC news on WLSAM radio saying that passengers aboard the doomed airliner called friends and relatives to say goodbye minutes before it went down.

Well, there are things that have puzzled me about this story from the beginning. Of course I am not an expert in airplanes, so I’m not sure what is normal, other than what I read in the news, but the sequence of events did seem a little odd to me, and of course, in this day and age, I think many of us think bomb right away. Most of the time as info comes out we realize it was unlikely, but without info it’s hard to know.

I heard (and of course, I know zero on this subject) that the depth where the wreckage has been found was something like 3 miles and the boxes emit thru water up to about a mile (not sure where I heard this, maybe I made it up!) If so, it may not be much help. But, I hope that’s wrong.
