President Barack Obama has waded into the row over whether the Queen would attend next weekend's D-Day commemorations in Normandy, and is working with organisers to secure her an invitation, the White House said on Monday.
Barack Obama is said to be working on getting the Queen an invitation to D-Day commemorations Photo: REUTERS Robert Gibbs, the president's spokesman, said Mr Obama wants the Queen to be present at the event on the Normandy beaches on Saturday. "We are working with those involved to see if we can make that happen," he said.
The failure of the French to invite the Queen has reportedly caused a trans-Channel rift over the guest list for the ceremonies on the beaches where Allied troops landed 65 years ago in a decisive turning point in the course of the Second World War.
A spokesman for the French government said last week that the Queen would be welcome to attend the event, along with Mr Obama, Gordon Brown, Nicholas Sarkozy, the French president, and Stephen Harper, the Canadian prime minister.

whoa! like she’s such a loser she needs a handler or something. this guy’s arrogance is UNBELIEVABLE..
Obama should just send her a DVD of “The Longest Day” and make sure it has North America region only playback capabilities.
She belongs there more than the pretender.
Bambi is one awgly person
If she’s smart, she’ll “be busy”.
Just invite Her! Why all the drama Obama?
“Here I come to save the day! Mighty Marx is on the waaaaay!”
Oh my goodness, this just gets richer and richer.
What a guy!
I am afraid she might come and “smack” him for going public and embarrassing her ...yet again!
Does no one in that White House THINK?
He is the MAN !
Sarky is really screwing the pooch with his guest list.
A little late, Barry. What, are you feeling the heat?
I’ll be very surprised if she accepts, after all this. It would be demeaning to do so.

I’m sure her Maj can handle her own invites and dis-invites (however dissapointingly disrespectful)
