By midafternoon Sunday, authorities had a 50-something man in custody in connection with the murder of Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller, killed while serving as an usher at his church.
However, the motive for the crime we can all surmise, given the vitriolic rhetoric aimed at Tiller these past couple of decades by anti-abortion activists.
And if were right about that, then we know the identities of his accomplices.
They include everyone who has ever called Tillers late-term abortion clinic a murder mill.
Whoever called Tiller Tiller the Killer.
Groups that fomented hate toward a man who, rightly or wrongly, believed he was serving a noble purpose by being one of the few doctors in the country who performed late-term abortions.
Hate. Not heated opposition. Not strong disagreement.
But blind hatred.
The kind of hate that would prompt some maniac to take a gun into a church and shoot a man to death in front of friends and family.
His accomplices know they have blood on their hands, which might explain why they were quick to issue statements expressing disapproval of Tillers murder.
Among them, the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue, whose words drip with hypocrisy: We are shocked at this mornings disturbing news that Mr. Tiller was gunned down. Operation Rescue has worked for years through peaceful, legal means, and through the proper channels to see him brought to justice. We denounce vigilantism and the cowardly act that took place this morning. We pray for Mr. Tillers family that they will find comfort and healing that can only be found in Jesus Christ.
Shocked? Are any of us really shocked that it would come to this after the many years of demonizing one man? Certainly the groups founder, Randall Terry, didnt seem shocked when he issued this statement on Sunday:

I don’t believe in praying for evil doers even Hitler like some here figured.
I believe in the death penalty.
I am pro-war to settle politics if need be.
I believe behavior has consequences ..sometimes dire.
I think violence does settle things historically.
I think some folks need killing...I realize there are limits to such musings..
I don’;t think God intends us to be doormats like folks who only talk about Christ’s ability to take it on the chin.
I could go on and on....this pro-life movement thing I’m seeing here today is about a philosophy of more than just stopping abortion. It’s sort of a new age Christianity...which ahs nothing to do with me being anti-abortion.
it’s just weird to me....I’m not like that...never have been , never will be
with some exceptions I have noticed here today that some folks I know from being here ten years who are soft on social issues like race, guns, amnesty etc are also the biggest handwringers over Tiller getting shot and killed.
I don’t share that angst.
Why would people who claim Christ worship with such a butcher???
So, are you in favor of killing babies? What is your point? What are you trying to say here? FReepers are saying that killing is wrong — whether the person killed is a baby or an adult — and you’re coming against them. Just trying to figure out what your point is in this conversation....
If all zeps are meps, then all meps are zeps?
That doesn't compute!
He was paid $5,000. to perform abortions on thousands of third trimester babies, thousands. His victims died quietly and in a “legal” operation. Their was no chance that they would elude him, or talk him out of it. He took the money and salved his conscience with high minded platitudes like “reproductive rights”, & “every child,a wanted child”. He even was able to convince himself that what he was doing was righteous, he was killed while participating in a Christian Religious service.
He was protected by the laws of the most powerful country ever in the history of the world. Protected against prosecution, and loss of liberty.
Powerful people went out of their way to personally protect his actions, people elected by popular referendum. Hard to believe. Of course they also veiled their protection of him as best they could, he was in a dirty business. They just know that it is right, they just don't want to get into the details. Too Messy! Best just say it is a nonviable tissue mass.
Tiller was a sick and depraved man. He committed murder for a living. All those who took an active part in promoting what he did are accomplices to his murders. The man who killed George Tiller also committed murder.
I will celebrate neither of them.
Somehow I feel like watching Braveheart again.
Bull. Sh1t.
A democrat was arrested recently for murder. Therefore all democrats have lost their moral standing.
Did this guy ever take a logic class? Maybe a propaganda class.
5 to one this dumb ass Mike Hendricks went to a public school and was not near the top of his class.
“I wonder if Liberals will self-examine themselves.”
Yes. Maybe they need to take a close look at what they support.
Personally, I’m having a hard time getting all worked up about somebody capping this guy. When one lives that close to the moral edge they pretty much attract trouble. It wouldn’t surprise me if he somehow got off on it. Sort of like Dr. Kevorkian, in my opinion.
Where is the “barf alert?”
So will this commie hack scribbler accept responsibility for Castro’s murders?
I thought not.
I’d bet a box of doughnuts this puke was cheering on the mass murdering Sandinistas back in the 1980s. BTW, the Sandinistas and their Marxist allies murdered 100,000 American-Indians in Central America. When commies do it, it’s okay.
By now, there must be some who don't care to retain it.
I bet the media never mentions that Tiller was selling human flesh for a profit.
“George Tiller was a mass-murderer. We grieve for him that he did not have time to properly prepare his soul to face God ”
I disagree with this point. Tiller had plenty of time, but he chose to spit in God’s face instead.
So there are enough lefties in KS now to support this rattyass little rag newspaper?
Most of metro KC is in Missour-rah, along with Kansas. This rag has always been leftist, going back to the days when Hemingway wrote there.
I’ll play lotto when you become a pacifist!
Has Bill O’Reilly commented on this. I think he’s the one who gave him the nickname, “Tiller the Killer”. Maybe not.
