This event is open only to Registered Freepers, their families and friends.
Ill be coordinating this event with the MOST appreciated help from seekthetruth. For now I (Brytani) am collecting names of those who are committed to going to D.C. with us. Once we have a realistic idea of how many Freepers are aboard, I will be contacting Hotels in D.C. to find a group or convention rate.
We already have a few wonderful Hotels on our list and dont want to wait until they are filled up. The plan is simple and will take only a FreepMail but time is of the essence!!! Hotels in D.C. are filling up fast!!!
Please send Brytani a FreepMail if you are going to D.C. or if youre strongly considering attending. For now I need your FreeperID, the number of room you will need the how many people will be in your party. If you have any questions please ask them on this thread or if youd prefer you can FreepMail me.
During the first week of June I will announce the Hotel, room rate, address, perks etc and when and how your reservation will need to be made.
For those who are considering joining us but have not completely committed, please FreepMail as well. This will give me a better idea of how many room to inquire on.
If you are already attending please consider staying with Freepers from around the nation. Youll have the opportunity to meet people youve been talking to for years and make new FRriends.
Come on everyone get on board!!! Save a bit of money! Could you ask for a better group of people to spend a weekend with?

WHERE ARE ALL THE FREEPERS?
There were over 200 FREEPERS who said they were going to book a room at the Sheraton Hotel at our great group rate!
There were over 300 FREEPERS who said they were going to come to Washington, DC for the National Tea Party and they were going to come to our National Freeper Convention!
JUST ASKING, WHERE ARE ALL THOSE FREEPERS?
seekthetruth,I will raise my hand.I wanted smoking rooms. Not happening at that hotel and I understand that so I was going to book at another hotel. What I am not willing to do is to pay for things I can’t do.I have a party of four and we can only make the convention and the 175.00 plus drinks is out of my budget.I don’t care about speakers, just wanted to met Jim and FRiends.(((((Hugs)))))
The Sheraton is making sure they have smoking areas set up to accommodate smokers, which many hotels would not do.
The convention ticket includes foods for Friday evening event, Saturday breakfast, Saturday night banquet with speakers/entertainment, and meeting room for workshops on Sunday. There is a great deal included in the $175 ticket.
Thank you for your post. I understand things are tough now for many people, but perhaps between now and September many will find they will be able to make it to DC and attend our National Freeper Convention.
Thinks are not tough for me.I am not willing to pay for breakfast and dinner on Friday.Four of us will not be there so I will lose money .It put me over budget for the trip.(((((((Hugs)))))))
Things.:)
You know, I would actually love to go to DC for a Tea Party. But I really don’t know about having it on September 11th and 12th. To me those days are sacrosanct. It’s just my opinion and all.

Well I really didn’t think about that.Timing was right for me.Husband slows down from work.Wanted to treat him and my daughter and her husband soon to be.It was perfect for us.
Our National FR Tea Party Convention begins on the evening of Friday 9/11 with a gathering to honor our troops at Walter Reed which will be followed by an evening candlelight vigil for all the 9/11 victims.
Our events for Saturday 9/12 include a wonderful buffet breakfast, attending events throughout Washington, and evening FR banquet with great speakers and entertainment.
Our events for Sunday 9/13 include workshop meetings beginning about noon.
Perhaps you can drop the words “Tea Party” from the event’s title. After all, going to DC to attend a national convention for a “Free Republic” would be reason enough. Holding a national tea party convention seems oxymoronic to the greassroots spirit of the tea party movement itself, not to mention holding it on of all days 9/11.

Please read this post by JimRob, as it will help you to see that our National Freeper Convention it the same weekend as the March on DC/Tea Party events, but worked in “around” the events.

I am sorry, fatima, I really wasn’t addressing my comments to you or to your family, personally.
Unless I have missed something, there really doesn’t seem to be a way to address the general premise of a thread without responding to an individual post.
I have always been deeply concerned about how the “general” public would view the tea party movement if a national tea party was held on or around these dates. I hope they will be solemn and reverent events, not our usual rebellious tea party-like events. If there are any of these type gatherings, I can guaranty you that will be the only thing you will see from the liberal media.

Thanks, seekthetruth.
I am glad the two events are separated. I hope I am wrong on this score, and JimRob is right.
Symbolism is important in a political movement. I am just worried about the symbolism of holding a well-justified, grassroot-rousing tea party close to or around these few days in September.

Some groups will be having events beginning 9/9-9/14, and Congress will be back in session! :)
Holding a Free Republic convention, largely out of the media’s attention is not my concern. The symbolism of holding Tea Party street demonstrations, calling for rebellion, however justified, while Obama and Congress hold solemn, prayerful events to mark the tragic events of 9/11 is my concern.
But, again, I hope I am wrong in my opinion. God knows I have been wrong before.

I know of NO events being held in Washington, DC on 9/11 except those giving tribute to all 9/11 victims and their families and to honor those who helped in the recovery process from that terrible day in 2001.
Our thoughts and prayers still go out to all who lost loved ones and friends on that dreadful day. Every American patriot will join us in remembering those who perished that day.
Here is a wonderful Independence Day message to us from Glenn Beck!
July 3, 2009
Hello America,
Here it is, another Fourth of July. Traditionally, this is a day to gather with friends, maybe fire up the barbecue and play with kids until the sun sets and the fireworks start. But in thinking back on the meaning behind this day, we must never forget that our nation was baptized in the blaze of a very different kind of "fireworks." Yes, this is a day of rest and relaxation, as well it should be, but this year I'd like to ask you a favor.
At some point during the day, I hope you'll take time to think and reflect on what it is we're truly celebrating on the 4th of July -- our Independence Day. Of course the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4th, 1776 but it's so much more than that. On this day, 233 short years ago, a small group of men dedicated themselves to a higher purpose, an ideal they believed in so greatly, they signed their name to its expression and in doing so put their very lives at risk.
Never has a simple act of signing one's name carried such weight, such a profound commitment. By signing the Declaration of Independence, 56 men stood in direct defiance of the British government. They became marked men, and willingly so. As I was doing some research on the significance of July 4th, I came across some interesting facts about these men. Today as we all enjoy the freedom our forefathers guaranteed us, join me in honoring the extraordinary sacrifice of 56 extraordinary Americans.
Of the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence:
Five were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes burned to the ground. Two lost sons serving in the Revolutionary Army, and two more had sons captured. Nine fought and died in the Revolutionary War.
If you ever feel like your lone voice can never be heard, that the political system isn't set up for "regular" Americans to change the course of history, remember: The signers were flesh and blood, mortal men with a divinely-inspired aim.
Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists, eleven were merchants, and nine were farmers and large plantation owners. They were well educated, smart enough to know that by signing the Declaration of Independence, they were signing their own death warrants. They did it anyway, and God bless them for it.
As we enjoy our liberty on this 4th of July, or any day of any month, we must never take that liberty for granted. Too many have given too much. In the words of the Signers themselves, "For the support of this declaration, with firm reliance on the protection of the divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other, our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor." Their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor -- I think that's a price paid worth a few minutes of reflection, don't you? But let's not be solemn in that reflection. I say rejoice and share this information with your friends and family, especially your kids. The Signers asked for nothing in return for their pledge, but I say that we show our thanks with a pledge of our own: To remember, to be grateful, and to carry on in their spirit. America is the greatest country this world has ever and will ever know, and it will stay that way so long as "we the people" remember that just like in 1776.
It's US that surrounds them, and we'll never back down.
Happy Independence Day, and God bless America.
Glenn
Hope everyone had a great Independence Day weekend!
It was great to read about all the Tea Party and Patriotic events that took place this past weekend, and continue to take place!
Time to look forward to the giant of all Tea Parties and our National Free Republic Convention in DC on 9/12!
Hope Freepers will decide to get their rooms booked and convention tickets bought now instead of waiting! That will help us to reach our end of the month goal! Thanks for helping, Freepers! :)
