HAZLET, N.J. (AP) - The owner of a New Jersey pest control company has been charged with animal cruelty after a squirrel was found dead in a rooftop trap.
Chief Buddy Amato says a professional complex hired Critter Ridder to help get rid of the squirrel. He says a trap was set Wednesday for the animal, and no one returned to check on it.
Amato says the squirrel was found "cooked to death on the hot roof" Thursday afternoon.
Buck faces four counts of animal cruelty, including one that cites her for not providing the squirrel with adequate food, water and shelter.

Talk about animal cruelty how about those sticky paper mouse traps. The poor mouse step on it and he tries to move and cannot, he is stuck fast to fight the sticky trap until he starves or dies in the struggle.
I believe in execution for anyone using one of those things.

I would love to see a bunch of rats infiltrate the ‘Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ building in NJ. Let them try to find someone to help them.

Lotsa hickory and black walnut trees ‘round my place. Gray squirrels I just keep an eye on, but reds are dead soon after I see ‘em.

You just bait the trap with peanut butter on a cracker. The mouse is zapped when he steps on the metal plate. There's a red light that flashes on top of the unit indicating that it has gone off - like the Ghostbusters ghost trap.
IMO, this is the most humane way to take care of the problem. The mouse is instantly dead and his last moments were spent thinking he was going to partake of a nice treat!
This guy must have a press agent, this is the second time he made the front page of the Asbury Park Press online in the last week.
About three days ago, he charged some guy with letting his girlfriend’s ferret loose.
Must be very slow in Monmouth County this week for this to be news.

OMGosh! Our heater wasn’t working quite right last fall, and the repairman found a long-deceased grinnie (chipmunk) in the exhaust vent. I hope that we aren’t prosecuted for not providing it adequate food and water.

Sorry - these commercials are driving me nuts because they justify P.T. Barnum (and the very basest elements of human nature) in this supposedly enlightened age. Apparently we're all supposed to be riding around on Medicaid-financed scooters on the taxpayers' collective backs while filing fraudulent grievance cases for make-believe accidents because lawyers are ready 24/7 to help you do that. AAAARRRRGH!!! You wrote of the harsher results of a cultural swirly but these merely annoying predecessors are freaking me out. We're in the "Disavow any personal responsibility and scam the government" phase while the next one is, what? Mass riots and amateur bombings from the nested upset being disenfranchised?
When you wrote in the first one about the leadership class insuring it protects and enriches itself before all else is a solid - though that was recognized by Karl Marx way back when. Seems to be worthy of a mathematical formula no matter one's ideology. We are fortunate, though, to be able to ask each other about such without fearing secret police crashing in on us for doing so and making us disappear.
We Americans, at this point in history, are still enjoying unprecedented freedoms compared to other societies historic and current despite forces constantly seeking to remove them. There is some unique and unidentifiable force at work covering our collective butts. I foolishly muse that the collective spirit of our citizens combined with the good wishes for us from those less fortunate around the world (and perhaps God Himself) tilts the balance.
Hope springs eternal and there's no big blue pill for the soul that makes that happen.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not on the side of the vermin. But we have no call to torture them to death either. Just kill them as fast as possible, I say.
Getting slowly roasted in a trap is a horrible death. That’s just a fact. But punishing a human for the death of a squirrel in a trap is just plain silly regardless how the animal died.
Maybe next time she will not use humane traps that may cause the animal to suffer this way.

Considering what it cost me to replace some of the wiring in my attic, I hope the squirrel died a slow death.
