WASHINGTON (AP) - Republicans on Wednesday abandoned an effort to label their opponents the "Democrat Socialist Party," ending a fight within the GOP ranks that reflected the divide between those who want a more centrist message and those seeking a more aggressive, conservative voice.
Supporters of the resolution asking the Democratic Party to change its name instead agreed to accept language urging Americans to call on Democrats to "stop pushing our country towards socialism and government control."
The initial name-changing resolution had drawn criticism from Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele. Other party leaders called the idea "stupid" and "absurd," saying it made Republicans look petty during a troubling time for the nation.

God forbid that anyone should speak the truth. Everything they have done since 1) taking over Congress and 2) the White House has been another step toward socializing our country. The Republicans should be screaming it from the rooftops, not bickering about it.
That idea was a non-starter from the beginning.
Now, maybe the Republican party will spend time on real issues.

It might be more accurate if they were named the Democrat Fascist Party, or the Democrat Nazi Party. The Democrat Bolshevik Party would also fit nicely.

They aren’t socialists, they’re flat-out Communists.
In an age where the pols get to re-define words daily, it was a good idea to define the terms. They are socialists.
Can anyone deny this?
Once again the “defenders of the Constitution” (conservatives) tuck-tail and run.
They, in a great chorus, refer to you as “teabaggers” and you don’t have the eggs, the guts to use a non-slang, non-vulgar term that perfectly defines them.
But, you wouldn’t want to be extreme, now, would you?
We wouldn’t want to appear like we’d roll up our sleeves and duke it out with those that seek to own us. Of course not.
