Gingrich: 'Absolute obligation' to investigate Pelosi
CNN ^ | 5-15-09

(CNN) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is engaging in a "despicable, dishonest and vicious political effort" to withhold what she knew about the CIA's harsh interrogation techniques, former Speaker Newt Gingrich said Friday.

Newt Gingrich says Nancy Pelosi is a 'trivial politician, viciously using partisanship for the narrowest of purposes.'

1 of 2 Gingrich said Pelosi "lied to the House" when she earlier claimed that the CIA had never briefed her about the Bush administration's use of interrogation methods like waterboarding, which is considered torture by the current administration.

"I think that the House has an absolute obligation to open an inquiry, and I hope there will be a resolution to investigate her. And I think this is a big deal. I don't think the speaker of the House can lie to the country on national security matters," the Republican leader said in an interview with ABC Radio.

Pelosi has been under fire from critics who say she was fully briefed on the techniques in 2002 and 2003. On Thursday, the California Democrat accused CIA officials of misleading her, reiterating a claim that she was briefed on such techniques only once -- in September 2002 -- and that she was told at the time that the techniques were not being used.

My, my, such circular firing squads. Who needs disruptors when we supply our own?

At the very least “An enemy of my enemy is a friend” should apply.

I would vote for Newt any day and twice on Sundays

Odd. Are you a partially reformed ACORN Democrat?

Former Republican Speaker Newt Gingrich is speaking out against Pelosi on this issue calling her a liar. Former Dem. Sen. Bob Graham is speaking up for Pelosi on this issue saying that the CIA’s record keeping leaves room for doubt.

If the Congress handles it, the Dems and the DBM have an opportunity to make it look like a partisan witch hunt, and the focus will shift from Pelosi’s lies to “desperate” Republicans trying to defend the “indefensible” GWB administration, who - as everyone knows - are worse than the terrorists.

If it works, Pelosi stays and the Dems get by with their lies. If it doesn’t work, Pelosi gets the blame and the boot, and the Dems get by with their lies.

That is unless Republicans decide to stand up for this country and speak truth with the same boldness as Dick Cheney instead of letting the DBM get by with reporting that they want Cheney to “shut up”.

"She is a trivial politician, viciously using partisanship for the narrowist of purposes, and she dishonors the Congress by her behavior."

That is the most apt description of Pelosi I have ever heard.

Honestly... if Hillary came out and blasted Pelosi... I’d cheer her on... for the act... I wouldn’t blast her for making the comment, just cause I hate nearly everything about her... I’d say “Kudos to her for speaking the obvious”....

It’s the same pattern, time and again... Romney blasts the Clintons and H, and folks here blast Romney... Same with Newt... They can’t stay on point... As you say, absolutely frustrating.

Exactly... Staying on the sidelines and letting the Dems and MSM spin it, without a response, would be, at best, a huge missed opportunity... at worst, we’d look inept and complicit, and be painted as the party of liars.

Isn’t it amazing? It’s like listening to Savage... He spends more time attacking Bush, Cheney, the GOP, and conservatives... than he does the left.

Ok, so you’d prefer we all stay on the sidelines, and have the enemy craft the tone and content of the debate? You’ve got to be kidding.

“Honestly, these folks are the morons that will make us a marginal party... They expect perfection and purity on all levels- not just politics, but personal lives as well... What a joke”

As a proud moron by your definition I would ask this simple question....What peccadillo ,if anything, on a personal level would eliminate any political candidate from your consideration?

I’d love to hear the answer to your question. My threshold is lower than screwing around on your wife. I won’t support a candidate who did that. Didn’t like McCain for roughly the same reason.

I don’t expect perfection. Marital infidelity is a long way from that, and there are a lot of reasonable positions in between.

Whoa pal. Dont put words in my mouth. I said nothing of the kind.

Newt isnt the one that is supposed to be saying these things. This should be coming from a sitting member , not one that left in disgrace because he couldnt keep his pecker in his pants.

It’s almost like Mark Knopfler wrote this for Nan...

Now you know what they say about beggars
You can’t complain about the rules
You know what they say about beggars
You know who’s the first to blame his tools
You never gave a damn about who you pick up
And leave lying bleeding on the ground
You screw people over on the way up
Because you thought that you were never coming down

Watching this Beotch resign and vacate her throne is going to be a glorious moment.

Even better would be to watch her fight tooth and nail to stay, bloody up her party, and then get evicted in the midterm election.
