The speaker of the House had just read a statement accusing the CIA of lying and was trying to beat a hasty retreat from her news conference before reporters could point out contradictions between her current position and her previous statements.
"Thank you!" an aide called out to signal an end to the session. Pelosi walked, sideways, away from the lectern and, still sidling in a sort of crab walk, was halfway to the door when a yell from CNN's Dana Bash, rising above the rest of the shouting, froze her in the aisle.
"Madam Speaker!" the correspondent called out. "I think there's one other question that I would like to ask, if that's okay."
"Sure, okay," Pelosi said, in a way that indicated it was not okay. Pelosi had no choice but to sidle back to the lectern.

Let's not forget how Pelosi got herself into this mess. DEMOCRATS were hot to "get Bush" ...... salivating to nail 'im with lawsuits. Then people started asking: What did Congress know? Weren't intelligence commitees briefed? Et voila. Pelosi was ranking member of the House Intel Committe at that time.

Steny Hoyer of Maryland is the Majority Leader, #2 in the House chain of command.
Hoyer is tight with Rahm Emanuel. And recall that Hoyer was NOT Queen Nancy's choice for the job; she wanted John Murtha.
With Nancy out of the way, the White House will have their guy in charge of the House.
Fact is, Nancy had considerable power. But she doesn't have a whole lot of friends. Nobody is going to stand up for her.
Milbank doesn’t say enough. The gobsmacking statement she made, which I heard because I watched the news conference live, was when she said, “they do it all the time,” in reply to whether the intelligence community lied to her.
All the time? That means career officials in the CIA, NSA, DIA, etc. lie as a matter of course to Congress. That means the problem didn’t begin and end with the Bush Adminstration, because, obviously, if these agencies lie “all the time” they lied before Bush was president, and they are lying now.
To say “they do it all the time” is highly revealing of Pelosi’s real opinion of these agencies. She loathes them. She should either call for their complete dismantlement and work for that end, or step down from her oversight role regarding them, which means she should step down as Speaker of the House.
