Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will direct his administration to send 5,000 layoff notices to state workers Friday, according to a source familiar with the governor's budget plan.
The Republican governor plans to eliminate 5,000 workers by the end of June, ..

Can we lay off Arnold while we’re at it? Someone send the governor a notice not to report for work Monday. And no the Lt. Governor can’t fill in for him either. The governor’s office is just going to have to stay empty until further notice... we’re facing tough economic times and it’s for the children. ;-)
Wait until the unemployment runs out...oh boy, one grand summer ahead. Not. Not to mention inflation just around the corner....
We will all be "stimulated" to death by then.
Oh snap, I thought that picture was from a “Yes, we can!” rally. My bad....
A good start?
Hugh?
I was under the impression that on this forum, collectively, partisanship is considered THE driving force in the destruction of the modern Republican Party in California. That partisanship is blind to principles if those principles are contemporarily unpopular. Further, that partisanship, in its present forum, is a following, not a leading.
Few are alarmed that the cart is behind the horse when backing up, but be mindful that you are backing up.
-Reductions in monthly aid to low-income elderly, blind and disabled.
- Lowering the amount paid to in-home health care workers and limiting services to the most needy.
Don't you just love that they can't find anything superfluous to cut, so they have to take away funding to the blind and services to the "most needy"!
No. Conservatives voting for RINOs because "he can win" is THE driving force in the destruction of the modern Republican Party in California. Once the primary is over, support the candidate. Else the moderates have no excuse for their usual despicable behavior. The point is tactical, not partisan.
Yep...they can't find a lazy bureaucrat to let loose of anywhere./s They open new programs and don't fund them either. They can't..it's all smoke and mirrors to expand government control and keep the pols in office.
Sweet. Government is getting smaller.
Never pass up low hanging fruit.... {:0)
My GOD!
It's the end of the world as we know it.
Guess it's time for some reality based thinking for some, eh?
Hopefully reality is doable for those addicted to government.
Total number of active employees in California: 241,164
He's got a long way to go!
Good start!

I understand the fed gov now employs 20,000,000.
Not including the military.
The Feds need to eliminate at least 8 million of these parasites.
The response implies that recent Republican primaries were open. That politcal philosophies of all stripes were allowed to compete on a level field in the party primaries, to the extent of their economic ability, allowing the party faithful wider choices to better guide the party. Theoretically this process would allow the faithful to coalesces, under the responsibilities of democracy.
That there has been no coalescences in the last California gubernatorial cycle and the last national presidential cycle speaks to the partisan triumph of the predestined primary process. A partisan watermark.
No, the problem is not poor choices, the problem is limited choices, the problem is the corruption of the process by PARTISANS.
