Pelosi: Bush briefers lied to me

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says Bush administration told her explicitly they weren't using waterboarding on terror detainees during a Sept. 2002 briefing on interrogation tactics -- months after they had begun waterboarding Abu Zabaydah.

Pelosi also called on CIA director Leon Panetta to release full details on her briefing -- and shook her head in the affirmative when asked if the administration had actually "lied" to her.

"The only mention of waterboarding in the briefing was that it was not being employed," she told reporters, reading from a prepared statement -- twice for emphasis.

The intelligence briefers gave Pelosi, she said, "inaccurate and incomplete information."

"Perhaps they should release the briefing-- I would be very happy if they released the briefing," Pelosi added.

I’d love to see the CIA release a memo with everything except the date, title, her name and the sentence “We are waterboarding suspects daily” blacked out..

LOL, literally.

You missed the “yes they told me they were waterboarding, but said it was legal”

She's forgotten the moment when she asked "Can I try pouring water into the face Colonel? It looks like fun!"

It’s time for Republican leaders to start calling for her resignation. She’s corrupt and dishonest, unworthy of the public trust and unfit for leadership. Pubbies should be standing at microphones all over DC saying this non stop! Too bad we don’t fight as hard as the ‘Rats do.

Fox also reported that the CIA spokesman released a statement within minutes of the press conference standing by the accuracy of the memos that were previously released.

The Fox reporters agreed that it was pretty rare that the CIA would continue to react so quickly and forcefully to these sorts of accusations.

That is frustrating. I think that we do not practice all of the devious stuff they do, because it isn’t in us...when a R goes wrong, he leaves office...when a D goes wrong (kills someone, gets caught with cash in his freezer, rapes a teenage page, etc.) he stays in office...but why we don’t fight these bastards doesn’t make sense...like we want to “take the high road” but it looks more like being a sisy...I don’t get it...

Why waste time briefing Congress about techniques that weren’t in use?

I know. Remember 2006 and Mark Foley. She stood in front of a microphone every single day for 3 months lamenting the Republican culture of corruption. Culture of corruption over and over and over again until the common guy on the street started equating corruption with Republican. It’s time to give her a dose of her own medicine!

I just love it when liberal female politicians get caught with their “teat in the wringer”...lol.
She reminds me of that female Louisiana governor, Blank-Zero, after hurricane Katrina destroyed her New Orleans stronghold.
Oh, let us watch the traumatic “wringing of hands and the tears”....
In both cases, the incompetence and stupidity were so obvious that it was practically entertaining and rather amusing.

I suspect (having lived in the Bay area for years) that the nut jobs are upset that she knew and are screaming that she should of taken a stand against this “torture”.

And for once, the nutjobs would be right. If you and I disagree over something, fine. Both of us should have the moral courage to tell others what our position is. However, if we privately agree, but one publicly excoriates the other for the position we both 'secretly' agree on, that one should be given nothing but contempt.

Pelosi has lost the respect of her hard left supporters, because they realize now that a) she privately supported waterboarding (thus negating many of their arguments against it) and that b) they were lied to. They're rightfully pissed off.

Hmmmm, not sure on the new speaker. Won’t be a clintonista. Maybe this is Obama’s “Sista Soldja” moment and he will pick a “moderate”. (Meaning a pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, phony NRA member)

"Pelosi was particularly harsh in describing the CIA. "They mislead us all the time," she said. And when a reporter asked whether the agency lied, she did not disagree.http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_pelosi_torture

This will create a firestorm. The Administration is losing control of the narrative.
