Top Dem: "Don't Be A Flake"

Recently elected Democrats worry that their party is at increasing risk of looking hypocritical for winning elections by promising to clean up Congress and then refusing to do so once comfortably in office.

“We need to have an institutional capacity to do some tough self-policing,” said Rep. Ron Kind, a Wisconsin Democrat who has voted in favor of the Flake resolution. “Our party needs to be careful not to appear hypocritical on this stuff.”

New Hampshire Rep. Paul Hodes — one of the first Democrats to back Flake’s resolutions — said more junior lawmakers are more inclined to support a beefed-up ethics committee and broader ethics reforms.

“Having not been in Congress a long time, it may be easier for the younger members, the more junior members, to push for these reforms than it may be for more established members,” he said this week.

But more senior Democrats expressed little enthusiasm for policing their colleagues — and made it clear that they don’t want more junior members to let that happen.

I see my weasel congresscritter Hodes has joined in. He is running for Judd Gregg's open senate seat and I'm sure he wants to have this to point to when he's on the campaign trail.

They should just put Murtha in charge of the investigation and implementation of the “reforms”.

Only problem is, when the rubber meets the road, Che voted against an Ethics probe into ‘Rat corruption. Hodes, surprisingly enough, sided with the GOP on this issue, but given the fact he’s voted party line about 98 percent of the time, blind squirrel, nut, you get the idea.

He’s just following the lead of my Wisconsin CongressWeasels.

Flush ‘em out. 99% of them. 2010 can’t come fast enough for me.

Notice it says they need to not "appear" to be hypocritical? Doesn't mean they won't continue their hypocrisy...they just need to hide it better.

The Democrats have a long history of corruption. I’ve always wondered why they don’t clean themselves up... but I guess, as long as they can fool voters into voting for them (because Democrats care so much), they’re not really concerned with how the corruption looks.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha . . . . . . . . !!!!!! Democrats are past masters of hypocrisy and following the rule: "Do as I say, NOT as I do!!"

As far as "self-policing" goes, they are already doing that - that's why they are so arrogant with their lies and anti-Americanism!! If this jerk were serious, he would want a volunteer bipartisan committee of non-politicians reviewing Democrat behaviors. The use of "self-policing" just means they will find a consensus of Democrats to justify their lying, manipulative, anti-American behavior. I don't believe a word of this.

Intentionally making a false promise is not hypocrisy, it is a lie.

Outrage over hypocrisy is juvenile, and insincere. It supposes that one should not strive for higher ideals unless one has already achieved them.
