WASHINGTON Popular U.S. breakfast cereal Cheerios is a drug, at least if the claims made on the label by its manufacturer General Mills are anything to go by, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has said.
"Based on claims made on your product's label, we have determined that your Cheerios Toasted Whole Grain Oat Cereal is promoted for conditions that cause it to be a drug," the FDA said in a letter to General Mills which was posted on the federal agency's website Tuesday.

Based on my experience as a kid, I’d agree that a mixture of Cheerios and sugar does constitute a drug.
Degenerate Mills needs to start an ad campaign that says “So effective the FDA wants to call it a drug”...
If Cheerios is a drug, so is V8, and any kind of foods that contain anti oxidents and other vitamins that prevent illnesses. So, do we also give up grapes?
Absolutely absurd. Obama must want to take over these businesses as well.
I wonder about the vitamins that are being advertized now with extra something in them that guarantees to lower your cholesterol?
These people have completely lost their minds.
Pffft! I’d say these idiots at the FDA have too many Fruit Loops.
Psst—hey, buddy! Wanna buy a bag of “Ohs”?
Whats next? We going to need a doctors prescription to eat healthy foods like Cheerio`s or apples?
Next “renowned” psychologists will be spouting that this is why so many kids are screwed up. Who among us didn’t carry around a baggie full of cheerios in our baby bags for our kids snacking pleasure?
I always wondered what big G little o meant???
I agree, and the FDA comes off looking like the dumb ass agency of the new century. Honest to God, what are those idiots thinking?
It’s well known that the consumption of certain cereals has a beneficial effect on a person’s health. Will all food now have to get approval by the FDA?
Some of these government actions should almost warrant jail time for the abuse of power displayed.
Can I get some government help for my drug addiction? I just can’t stop eating them! Please, help!

(For 35 years, they were the only way Mrs. Lucky could get me to behave in church)
They came for the Cheerios and I said nothing. Then they came for my Fruity Pebbles and it was too late.
Well, I said it a long time ago. I will say it one more time before the intranet is abolished to make way for the Obamatron. We, as conservatives need to stop this Kenyan at every turn.
The real target is the supplement industry.
